~Whisper of the Waves~
If I could find you now, things would get better
We could leave this town and run forever
I know somewhere, somehow we'll be together
Let your waves crash down on me and take me away
There was always something about the beach that drew her in.
Whether it was the salty air, the grains between her toes, the spray of the ocean, or the cries of the seagulls, the beach had a way of calming her the way nothing else did. Selphie always encouraged her to let out her frustrations through words and conversation, but she could never find the motive to agree. So one day, when she found herself desperate for some peace, she walked to the beach. It was there that she discovered she could untangle her thoughts and compose herself.
She stood there now, school stockings stuffed into her black leather shoes that dangled from her fingers. Her toes dug into the cool sand, red hair blowing in the breeze as the waves rolled in.
"Kairi…"
The girl closed her eyes, bringing a hand to the side of her head. That was the main reason she came to this spot. The waves—they whispered to her. It was as if…as if she could hear him, hear his voice.
Kairi smiled to herself, eyes opening. "…Sora."
Her eyes located the piece of land straight ahead. A stretch of ocean separated her from the play island that was like home to her. She hadn't gone back, not since he had left her. Once she laid her eyes on the drawing in the Secret Place, she promised not to return until he could be there with her.
Unfortunately, Kairi knew that time wasn't going to come soon. He was off, adventuring and fighting. How brave he was to take on such a task, to save her, and to search for her other best friend who had also gone missing. And here she was, afraid for both of them.
Kairi brought a hand to her heart, silently praying that they would somehow find their ways back to her. She missed them dearly, and life on Destiny Islands wasn't the same without them.
The water brushed over her feet, pulling the sand from underneath her toes. She felt herself smile, a light giggle leaving her lips at the feeling. Her smile grew even more when she swore she heard his laugh join her, the sound like music to her ears.
Sora. He would come back to her. He promised her, and she believed that he would fulfill that oath. There was that feeling within her, that warmth in her chest that convinced her that she wasn't trusting a lie.
As the waves softly came in once more, Kairi gazed above the ocean, her periwinkle eyes dancing across the light blue sky.
"Kairi."
The redhead closed her eyes once more, finally responding to the whispers granted to her…
"I believe in you."

Just something I had to do to get rid of some writer's block. Don't know if it's great, but...
Thought I'd give a short-short a try. This could be considered a short-short, no? :3
Hope you enjoyed. R&R.
