Kenshin does not belong to me… sniffles. He belongs to a great man whose name I can't spell but I bow down to anway!!!!
Kenshin silently cursed his plight as he felt the next one coming… He closed his mouth tightly hoping to keep the sound muffled.
"…hic… hic! Kso…" He muttered afterwards. He heard a muffled giggled from behind the door and made a face.
"Why don't you try holding your breath."
"Aa… Kaoru-dono. Sessha has been holding his… hic… breath!"
"Try again." The girl stated gently, not trying to hide her amusement in his plight. He closed his eyes, keeping the frown off his features. It was a nice day outside. He'd already done the laundry and all of the clothes were hanging on the line drying with the soft summer sun. Suzame and Ayame had already gone home, having eaten the lunch in their company and Yahiko had just barely come home from his job at the Akebeko. Everything had been perfect until…
"Hic." Kenshin rolled his eyes and asked silently what he had done to Kami-sama to deserve this.
"Why don't you try scaring him!" Yahiko asked loudly finally, impatient for his dinner which Kenshin had been trying to do but with hiccups as violent as his usually got, the rurouni had stopped cutting the vegetables and so it was delayed.
"I tried." Kaoru started, pouting. "Demo Kenshin no baka always hears me coming!" She grumbled.
"Or- Hic-o!" Kenshin muttered softly. As if hearing her was his fault. He couldn't help it… He knew her footsteps and her scent… how could she possibly startle him?
"Did he try holding his breath?" Yahiko asked.
"HAI!" Both Kaoru and Kenshin yelled out. "Hic." Kenshin added pitifully.
"Uh… drinking water without breathing."
"Hai… hic… hic…hic! Oro…" The poor man breathed out. Yahiko sighed and furrowed his eyebrows together as he thought for another solution.
"…" He shook his head as the two grownups continued watching him. "A-hah!" Yahiko slapped his fist in his other hand enthusiastically. "I got it! Kaoru come with me!" Kenshin watched them leave the room with a sinking heart. What were they up to now? He sighed and hiccupped and continued feeling miserable as he waited for whatever Yahiko's brilliant idea was. "It's the only way to startle him…" He heard silently and shook his head. How… Kaoru came running into the room.
"Kenshin?" She asked in her most innocent voice.
"Oro… hic!" He muttered, violet eyes looking at her with suspicion. "…" He wasn't given the time to react as she gently deposited on his lips a sweet kiss.
"NOT ON THE MOUTH BUSU! WHEN I SAID KISS I MEANT THE CHEEK!" Yahiko screamed at the top of his lungs in a frustrated growl. The boy paused in his shout though and scratched his head. "Well… maybe the mouth was better. He does look surprised." The boy shrugged. "Whatever works." Kenshin heard this and blinked his eyes wide and startling clear. His face burned as he and Kaoru looked at each other.
"…no more hiccups?" Kaoru finally asked looking away, her face a lovely red tint.
"Oro…" Kenshin shook his head. "Iie. They've stopped." He stood up and went over to the young woman, taking her hand in his. "Arigatou Kaoru-dono." He muttered smiling.
And that is now why the feared and dreaded battousai, the lovable beatable and huggable rurouni… always wished to have those damned hiccups!
THE END OF THE MOST POINTLESS FICS EVER!
(Author bows before scampering off to return writing her usual angst filled fics.)
By the way… this fic is for Besu-chan who wished for a fic filled with FLUFF.
I hope she enjoyed it.
