Prologue
"Ah, Mister Potter, it is nice to see you, I trust you're doing well," greeted Albus Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts: School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and the most powerful wizard alive.
"As well as I can, given the circumstances, Headmaster." An emerald eyed youth replied easily.
"Yes, yes now I suspect you are here for more than small chit chat." Dumbledore said, a small smile on his face as he peered down at the confident teenage student.
"Certainly sir, I'm here because you and I both know that the Boy-Who-Lived will be attending Hogwarts after the summer holidays." The boy explained, completely calm.
"Of course, Daniel Potter will be starting next year."
"He is also my brother."
"Indeed, what exactly are you implying?" Dumbledore asked, genuinely confused.
"We both know that the Dark Lord will return and when he does, he will go after Danny."
"Yes, I believe Voldemort will inevitably return, and will most likely be after Daniel." Dumbledore had hid his brief moment of shock at the boys boldness upon the subject of the Dark Lord but he was slowly starting to catch on as he sat up straighter and the twinkle in his eye brightened slightly.
"I need to be ready, Headmaster, I need to be able to protect my family. I need to learn to control this thing inside me, sir." The boys emerald green eyes were staring directly into Dumbledore's icy blue.
Dumbledore pondered this, he had seen the boys display and handling of magic before, he had so much potential to become a very powerful wizard. But Dumbledore could also detect something different. Something darker, lurking within the boy. When he was younger, he was taught Occulemency to keep it in check but if he loses control...things become destructive.
Finally Dumbledore made his decision.
"It will be very, very tough. It might help or very well hurt but I can teach you what I know in your situation. Are you sure you want this, Harry?"
Harry Potter raised his chin and took a deep breath.
"Very much, sir."
The game was set, the players ready. It was time.

Hello friends, it's MerlinsBeard here :D Sorry for that small decline of stories, as I said before on my last story, I had a little bit of writers block and some finals to do. I would of gotten this up faster but I was waiting for my new PC which I now have! I absolutely love it but I had to take some time to reinstall my writing program, which sorta sucks because I lost all my saved stories :( Don't worry though, I hope to get another two chapters out this week. (I'll probably get lazy so don't hold me to my word.) Anyways, I hope you all enjoyed the Prologue to The Shadow in the Dark(I don't know where I came up with that name, it kinda just hit me.) By the way, to those who were wondering about My Angel, this is the beginning of the actual story, I just decided to switch the name. Sorry if it's very short, I wanted to just get something out there quickly.
