Someone to Stand it With

Notes: This will be a one shot. Also, I personally believe Ennis is bisexual, so you'll have to read on to see whether he settles down with a man or woman. If you don't agree or you don't think Ennis should love anyone else, then don't read this.

June 1987

"Thinkin about Jack Twist again, baby?" Delilah Mayes asked, looking at Ennis sweetly. Ennis pulled himself out of his reverie and looked at his fiancée, whom he would marry tomorrow. She was beautiful, much more beautiful than Alma was, with her ageless face, soft brown hair and quick laugh, which were oddly enough the same physical features Jack had. She also loved him and understood him more than any woman on the planet, even his own daughters. He knew he wasn't queer, if it weren't for Jack, he never would've liked men and since he died, the thought of being with another man bothered him, and he knew he could never love another man after his death, it would remind him too much of the physical aspect of their relationship.

"I'm sorry, it's the day before we get married, and I'm thinkin about him instead of this amazing woman in front of me. " He apologized, smiling lovingly at her.

"It's all right. I think of my husband too, even though he's gone. I know you love him, and it's different from how you love me. Consider me your Ms. Right and he's your Mr. Right." She said her voice kind and understanding as always.

They kissed one another and held each other for a long time. He did love her, and it was different but it didn't mean it was less legitimate. If you can't fix it, you've gotta stand it, and he had finally found someone to stand it with.
