My Own World

I loathe life

It's and odd statement

considering me

All that I do

and all that I feel

I need to do

don't mean anything to you

My world

is nothing like yours

It's my own

but everyone else's

when I feel it needs to be.

Feelings

that take over my body

Depression and sadness

Anger and Anxiety

I sometimes lose track

of myself

along the way to recovery

I just need to be alone.

The world has a lot to offer

everyone but me

I have my own world

that I hide in

when the real world

gets too big for me

I retreat to my own world

where I feel comfortable

and needed by others.

I go there to be happy

for once in my life

away from everything else

When the world gets too big

I just shut down

and go to my own place

where I feel comfortable

and needed.

Donatello looked down at the finished paper and wondered how he had gotten to this point. Here he was, writing poetry instead of doing his experiments. Patrol started in a few minutes, and he knew Leo would come into his lab, and say the same thing that he did yesterday.

"Don, it's time to go. Put down your experiments and get Raph out of his room. We're leaving in five minutes."

Wow, had he memorized it by now? Maybe his life was getting repetitive.

He rose out of his chair, thinking about all of the things he could say to Raph to get him out of bed. "Maybe I'll tell him I burned all of his Modern Ninja Magazines. Yeah, that will show him."

Of course, he could just sit back down and wait for Leo to come around again and tell him to wake Raph up from his all-day nap.

'Would he come back?' Donnie thought as he stood in the middle of his lab, half-finished inventions scattered along the floor and his desk. He wondered what would happen if he did sit back down and not do anything about Leo's request. He had never defied Leo before, so why start now?

All of a sudden it hit him. The reason why he didn't want to go on patrol or wake Raph up.

Raph.

Donatello was so tired if Raph defying Leo and Splinter or anyone else who got in his way, that he thought he could pull off the same "bad boy" attitude. But that just wasn't the real Donatello.

The real Donatello wouldn't defy Master Splinter or Leo's orders. The real Donatello wouldn't try to be something he wasn't. No, that's not what Donatello would do.

The real Donatello would walk up to Raph's door, ask him politely to get up, and move on with his life.

"Yeah, I think that is what I'll do." Donatello thought as he walked out of his lab and towards his sleeping brother's room.

"That's exactly what I'll do."
