This is adorable cuteness that i do not own. I don't even own the AU it's based off of.
(Sorry about the delay on my other stories. They take time... and well, it's Christmas ya'll :3 )
The Detective pulled himself out of sleep with a heavy yawn and rapidly blinking eyes. Something seemed... off in the apartment and he couldn't tell what it was. He sat up and rubbed his eyes, before swinging his legs over the side of the bed and shuffling his feet on the floor. There was a loud thunk, followed by a scuffling noise from the living room and he narrowed his eyes before stepping over to the door and pulling it open.
The sight that greeted him confused him for a few moments, and he turned his head from side to side, taking in what had been done to his living room. There was a large, lopsided tree in one corner, with a bald patch every foot or so. The tree was decorated in a multitude of flickering lights and silver garland clumped in the empty spaces. Green icicle tinsel hung sparsely on some places, and clumped in others, as if someone had just thrown handfuls at the tree. A chipped and faded gold star decorated the top and there was a single, poorly wrapped present underneath it.
The rest of his living room had been decorated as well. Garland hung haphazardly on the walls and blank Christmas cards were pinned to the wall next to the tree. He winced when he realized he would have to fill all the holes caused by the nails and the thumbtacks and lose his security deposit.
Suddenly his vision filled with bright blue glowing eyes, a santa hat that clashed horribly with red hair, and the green skin of his zombie… friend? ward? Hanna was grinning at him and then he started to chatter.
"Look at what I did to the living room! Your house wasn't really all that festive so I thought you must have forgotten so I went out and picked up a tree and some decoration and I got you a present though I really hope you'll like it and I really wish I could have gotten a better tree but oh well it's not really important right now anyway cause I tried to fix it with the garland and I hung holly and all sorts of stuff around to make the apartment smell nice and then… I… you don't like it?"
The detective snapped out of it long enough to smile and give Hanna a small hug. "I love it." Then he smiled even wider when Hanna made that delighted noise again and went back to his feverish decorating.
