She stared at her hands that were bandaged in white linen hiding the burn marks on the soft flesh, which had been inflicted by none other than herself. For a moment she had the urge to unwrap the fabric, and do some more damage on these hands of hers, feeling that after everything she'd done with them, she deserved the excruciating pain of scorching herself.

But the soft voice of someone calling for her, resonating through her mind stopped her, and with a loud pop, she apparated away from the heat of the stove, appearing in a well lit room with warm colors of red and people laughing as they greedily drank butterbeer.

"How can Winky be of service?" She asked the curly haired woman in front of her, smiling brightly, liking that she could be of service to someone as kind as the Miss in front of her. Though the woman tended to be quite rude sometimes, with her talk about freedom and trying to give clothes to her and her fellow house elves.

"I would like to have a cup of hot chocolate, and maybe a small slice of treacle tart." As she voiced her order, she could feel the hesitance in the woman's voice, and though she ought to feel grateful for the woman's obvious gentleness and care, she couldn't help but feel offended.

"Right away Miss." She said, sounding a bit too snippy, even to her own ears as she once again, apparated away with a small pop, starting to prepare the hot chocolate and treacle tart.

Why can't young Miss Hermione realize that we like what we do, and don't want payment and holidays for something that we are born to do? It is like she would be expected to get paid for her help in tutoring others, which I know for a fact, she would never accept.

With a loud sigh, that caused several of the other house elves to turn their heads towards her, curiosity shining brightly in their tennis ball-sized eyes, she apparated away, a plate and cup in her bandaged hands.

A/N: I wanted to try to write something out of the point of view of a house-elf, and though I don't think that I quite captured the thoughts of one, it was funny to write.

I would be glad for any conservative criticism you have about my work and writing, as it will help me in further improving my writing.

P.S Let's say that this is a well-educated house-elf, as I can imagine Dumbledore learning house elves how to speak correctly. He seems to be that kind of person.

P.S.S I took the name Winky so that I could categorize this somewhere.
