A/N This story is dedicated to my twitter sister and friend, T Grant. You are my fellow Andy thot and I love you to the moon and back!
"There, that should do it."
Michonne moved around her newly furnished living room. Beautiful indigo couch with sky blue and beige pillows, big screen TV, plush yellow rug on a newly polished floor. Funky, yet sexy. Completely Michonne.
"Yep I'm home." Five years ago when she left Kings County, she didn't think she'd be able to come back so fast; but here she was, back where it all started…home.
knock knock knock "Open the door bitch, I know you're in there."
Michonne laughed to herself and walked towards the door. "I only asked for two days max, two days Mags before you came by."
"I know , I know but I couldn't help myself. I've missed you sooooo much." Maggie jumped on her friend to give her a big hug. Michonne hugged her friend back with eager affection.
"Where's Sasha? I'm shocked she's not here."
"Sasha knows how to follow directions and hasn't dropped by yet. She'll be here on Sunday, which is when you can come back."
"Oh come on Miche, you've been gone for so long and I've missed you like crazy. Besides, don't you want to know all the town info?" Maggie asks with raised eyebrows.
"Maggie, I talk to you on the phone at least once a week. I'm pretty up to date with everybody and everything going on around here."
"Reallllyyyyy. So you know the real reason Sasha isn't here then?"
Michonne turned to look at her friend. "You wanna repeat that?"
Maggie started to laugh out loud. "I'm just curious if Sasha is really following directions ooorrrrr spending time with her new beau." She says with a smile.
"New beau? What new beau? She never said anything." Michonne says shocked.
"Well, I'm not completely sure as she hasn't said anything but I have it on good authority, she's been spending a LOT of time with a Mr. Dixon who –
"DARYL?! DARYL DIXON AND SASHA?! Dirty Daryl?"
"Hey, some people find dirt charming. Sasha does. And that's just his look. I'm pretty sure he showers." Maggie says with a grin.
"I just, I'm speechless. He's so not her type."
"Sasha doesn't have a type. Let's see there was that guy Bob, the cop Abraham, the teacher, Spencer – none of those worked. This might be the ticket for her."
"I'm not one to judge" Maggie gives her a look. "Ok I don't judge too hard. I just never saw those two together. And why didn't she tell me?"
"Maybe she wanted to wait until they get serious. You never know. And shouldn't you be thinking about getting a man. There's definitely a few available around here."
"That's the last thing I'm looking for. I moved back home for peace. Men bring chaos."
"Yeah we'll see if you're still singing that tune after a few months of desert crotch. How long since you and douche broke up?"
Michonne bursts out laughing. It hasn't been that long since she's been with a guy. Mike was dick and it was past time for her to dump him. Besides, he was fucking half of downtown Atlanta behind her back. It's only been what, 8 months. That isn't that bad she thinks to herself.
"And breakup or no, it's time for you to get back into the saddle. There's Ezekiel, Shane, well he's a man whore."
"Still? Oh boy are only guys from high school still here?"
"Not everybody felt the need to run away. Some of us wanted to stay here, put down roots, keep that feel of family."
"Mags, you know I didn't mean anything by it. And obviously, I wanted all that too. I'm back aren't I?"
"Yeah you're back and here to stay I hope."
"Yeah, I'm here to stay Mags. KC will always be home."
"Yaaaassss" Maggie lets out a squeal. "Listen I know you want to lay low but come to Dale's tonight. You left town before we were legal age to go in there. It'll be like poppin your cherry."
"Please girl, been there done that and Ri-" She didn't finish that sentence. Saying his name would be like summoning a ghost, even though she knew he would come up sooner or later."
"And Rick what. I already know my friend. We all did."
"HE TOLD YOU"
"Of course not. You guys disappeared for over an hour that night and when you came back, not only was Ricks hair completely disheveled but your shirt was on backwards."
"It was?!" Michonne asks in horror.
"You didn't realize. OMG Michonne." Maggie starts laughing hysterically. Michonne rolls her eyes but a small smile creeps on her face. Richard "Rick" Andrew Grimes. Her first real friend. Her first lover. Her first real love. Too bad time and circumstance kept them from finding out if anything could have actually been.
"Who said we did that? We could have just been making out."
"Yeah ok, I believe that. You sure were walking funny though."
"MAGGIE GREENE! Michonne throws a pillow at her and smacks her right in the face.
"Don't be mad at me. You were, my friend. But just so you know, he's single too. Matter of fact, guess who lives one house down and across the street."
"Shut up. You're joking"
Michonne runs to her front door and looks out the screen. The house Maggie is describing is adorable. Ranch style slate grey with white shutters. A wrap around porch with a very inviting looking porch swing. Perfectly cut grass with a shiny black Jeep parked in the driveway. The house was clean, masculine and inviting, the perfect definition of one Rick Grimes. As if the gods themselves heard her thoughts, the door opened and out stepped the only man Michonne had ever really loved. Rick walked out onto his porch wearing a button down crisp white shirt, dark blue jeans that fit his ass and thighs perfectly, and that curly hair. Michonne could remember running her hands through it. But the one thing she couldn't see, and didn't think she could handle were those eyes. Those baby blue ocean hued eyes that swallowed her soul and made her feel completely consumed.
"Well, why don't you go say hello." Maggie whispered from behind her.
"He's probably just picking up the paper and is going back inside. No need to bother him." Michonne needed any excuse not to see Rick today. She was nowhere near ready for that.
"Don't be silly. I know he'd love to see you. RIIIICKKKK. Hey Rick. Come over here a second!" Maggie screams from the front door.
"Are you fucking crazy!" Michonne snaps at her.
"What's the big deal. Weren't you guys besties in high school. Wait, did you part on bad terms?' Maggie looked mortified
"No nothing like that it's just..
Knock knock knock
"Maggie was that you calling me girl?" Rock's voice comes floating through the screen door.
Maggie looks at Michonne and nods towards the door. Michonne gives her a pointed look but takes a breath and walks over to her door. As she pushes the door open, brown meets blue for the first time in 5 years. They both stare at each other. It's as if time has stopped and neither know what to say or where to look but at each other. Seconds go by before the silence is broken.
"Howdy neighbor"
