If you want peace, you have to be ready to defend it, so prepare for war.
The more you sweat in peace, the less you bleed in war. That is the famous quote by Norman Schwarzkopf, US Army General, a Gulf War Hero. Yet the more I sweat in Peace, I bleed more in war. Thrown into various Battlefields in various universes and in different timelines I fought for different factions, different ideologies I continue to fight. I was given the power of the Gamer, which is quite powerful, at first I see this as a gift but soon it turned into a curse as I cannot die yet my comrades around me die in droves. It doesn't matter, US, Russian, German, Japanese, NATO, Warsaw, it never mattered to me, because in the end, I am just a visiting soldier.
David Mitchell Namikaze, have an unusual life, he was only a Collage Student who use Twitch to stream ArmA 3 as away to pay the bills, he was a Marine Corps JROTC Cadet and a Martial Arts practitioner in high school which kept him in shape, suddenly one day one of the students in Collage came with a gun and was waving it around like a toy, when the shooting started he used his training to tackle the idiot before getting shot, his action cause others nearby to wrestle the gun away until Police and EMT arrive, he would later die since one of the bullets hit him right in the chest, then he somehow became a Gamer with the ArmA 3 Zeus power, he could only spawn empty vehicles and weapon arsenals not people. Then his life went into a twist finding himself in Medival Europe, then Sengoku period in Japan, the American Revolution, The US Civil War, The Napoleonic Wars and Waterloo, Rorke's Drift, The Zulu Wars, World Wars and many other wars in different universes, from Metal Gear to ArmA, fighting wars before finding himself on the Ark then in the Post Apocalypse world of 7 Days to die.
Right now he could only cursed and duck behind an overturned HEMTT Transport as their Company's Hunter was finally destroyed. Their Rhino MGS was the first to go then one of the HEMTTs before infantry decided to decent on the convoy. David is currently a Marine Corps Captain having obtain various ranks in various universes and timelines. The Marines unlike other NATO Soldiers, still wears the MCCUU and Improved Modular Tactical Vest.
"Get a base of fire!" David shouted at his Squad as he fire his M14, he was lucky to be the first to got out the Hunter before a rocket hit it, at a couple of CSAT Vipers. Vipers on Altis, he knew it was to good to be true. "Someone get me Air Support!" David shouted at his Radio Operator.
"Right a... UGH!" A Radiomen was suddenly hit in the throat.
"MEDIC!" David shouted before firing on the ridge line where he saw the Viper.
"WATCH OUT!" Someone shouted and David could only see the incoming rocket and his last words were.
"Son of a..." David started only to end with a 105mm TBG-42V warhead blowing in his face.
"Bitch?" David questioned, confused when the intense heat suddenly dissipated completely and he realised he isn't in another soldier's life.
"What the heck…!?" David exclaimed in shocked, to find himself standing in a stark white, and brightly lit hallway instead of another recruitment depot like before. This strange hall didn't have any signs of military presence, and it was lined with various different styles of doors and right in the middle of the hall is a desk that looked as though it would be right at home sitting in the local DMV. It even had one of those 'take a number' machines on it amongst the rest of the strategic clutter piled up around the spectacled Caucasian man who was occupying it...
"Oh, God!" David suddenly shouted. "I've died and gone to hell, haven't I?" David questioned as he paled slightly with fear as it seemed natural for hell to be based on the DMV, given the tortuous experience and not to mention excruciatingly long waits he and many others had to endure every time they had to pay them a visit.
When David took a step forward he was taken aback when the man at the desk look up smiled at him, looking slightly amused, as if he knew what he was currently thinking.
"Excuse me, where am I, who are you and did I finally die?" David asked warily, but unfortunately, the man didn't seem to care much about answering his question, because he had turned his attention back to the papers on his desk and had started scribbling something on them.
"Hey! I have a few...!" David began taking a step forward, but his annoyance at being ignored quickly turned to surprise and shock when an odd stone door beside him began sliding open and sucking him like a vacum cleaner.
"What the he!?" David shouted before getting sucked in.
The man calmly took a drag on his cigarette and exhaled the smoke as the door shut itself and the hall of doors was completely empty, once again.
"Next." He called out.
Old soldiers never die; they just fade away. - Douglas MacArthur
"Oomph!" David grunted when he fell from the portal that had opened up in the darkened sky a few feet above the ground. "Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo Yankee Oscar Uniform!" David shouted as he stood up as he took in his current surroundings, armed with an captured M14 with RCO Scope, he manage to grab before his Hunter exploded. "Here the heck am I?" David questioned when he sees only hills and trees.
"Bollocks!" David yelp whipping around when he suddenly sensed a killing intent from behind, aiming his M14 face to face with a young man whose face was half hidden in the shadows of the night. His long hair was pulled back in a ponytail, and he was wearing clothes that resembled an outfit from a historical anime or something. But, most importantly this mysterious stranger had his drawn bow and arrow trained on him, ready to strike the instant he made a single wrong move, but he is aiming his M14 which is ready to fire the instant he release the arrow. A single roll of nervous sweat slid down David's cheek, this guy, who ever he is, is dangerous, he could sense it. His sense has been honed over the years in his time as the Gamer, from various battlefields to some of the most dangerous jobs. Who ever this is guy, is also a warrior who had been through countless battles.
'If it comes down to a fight, my only chance is to settle this with a quick counter strike!' He thought, tightening his grip on the M14, as he grit his teeth preparing himself. If he missed, he wouldn't get another chance.
[If you move, I'll kill you! If you scream, I'll kill you! Why you headed to ze cassle!? Woot do you want!?] The deadly archer said gravely in some strange language he had never heard before.
"Eh?" David asked dumbly, tilting his head slightly to the side in his confusion, as he sweat dropped. It seems he must have done something he shouldn't have, because the next thing he knew, an arrow was speeding straight towards him.
"Hurensohn!" David yelp as he drew his US M1942 Combat Sword .
Yoichi could only look in surprised, when the unusual man managed to deflect his arrow with his strange, straight sword. It had been a while since he'd last seen someone do that.
*Uwa, anata wa kanari yoidesu!~*(Wow, you're pretty good.) He praised her in Japanese, grinning. He had figured he was warrior of some kind, on account of that strange equipment and strange musket he was carrying, but he certainly hadn't been expecting to see something so interesting.
*Matte... Chōdo nihongo o hanashimashita ka?*(Wait… Did you just speak Japanese?) David asked, raising both eyebrows slightly in surprise, he had been about to shoot, but realising he could suddenly understand him had thrown him into a loop, maybe now that they could communicate.
(Translating Japanese to English)
Yoichi blinked, feeling slightly surprised himself.
"Oh! Don't tell me you also hail from the Land of the Rising Sun?" He asked curiously, first those two elf boys had brought an injured samurai to them earlier, and now this man had just strolled up to them on his own two feet? It was just raining Japanese today! Although, Yoichi hadn't expected to hear his native tongue being used by a man with such foreign and exotic looks, and it was hard to see the subtle traces of Japanese blood in his face by the dim light of the moon, and he had never met a Japanese with eyes those colours. Though it could just be a trick of the light, but it looked like one was green, while the other was blood red.
"Land of the…? No, I'm not Nippon, I'm American." David replied completely confused and wondering why the man's way of speaking sounded so archaic, though it did match his costume. Luckily he fought during the Sengoku period so he understand the older version of the Japanese Language.
"What? So, you're not Japanese after all?" Yoichi asked as he sigh in disappointment. Well, at least he could actually speak their language. "And what's this 'Amerika' place you mentioned? I've never heard of it."
David raised an eyebrow when the man had never heard of America, but with that latest piece of information, combined with his clothing and speech pattern, suggested something that would be normal for him.
"That might be kind of hard to explain, putting that aside. But this might sound like a strange question. You're still alive, right? Please tell me we aren't in the land of the dead, if so can you tell me where we are?" David asked completely confuse and to his surprise, Yoichi actually began to laugh, as though she had just said something incredibly amusing.
"Hahaha~! Don't worry, you're not in the Land of the Dead, not yet anyway!" Yoichi replied grinning, as he finally lowered his bow. It seems he was the same as them after all. "Since it looks like we're in the same boat, I guess I should bring you to the castle to meet the others."
"By the way, I am Yoichi. Nasu Suketaka Yoichi." Yoichi said grinning while David almost fell down upon hearing that name.
To fight the United States is like fighting the whole world. But it has been decided. So I will fight the best I can. - Isoroku Yamamoto
The first thing David saw upon reaching the ruined castle with Yoichi happened to be a heavily bandaged man trying to decapitate an older man who was wearing an eye patch, and by the looks of it, the old man has some good reflexes to dodge that strike.
"That was dangerous." The man with the eye patch said as he straightened up. "You really are an oaf."
"You are the oaf! You say you are Nobunaga!? Lord Nobunaga has been dead for many years now!" The injured man yelled furiously, sweating heavily. It was obvious that their fight was putting a great strain on his body, by the looks of it, he's heavily injured.
"Nobunaga!?" David gasped inaudibly before leaning to Yoichi to whisper to his ear. "As in Oda Nobunaga the 'Demon Lord of the 6th Heaven'!?" David Hissed to Yoichi, as if learning the man next to him was that legendary archer hadn't been shocking enough.
"...Henceforth, this place must indeed be the netherworld!" The injured man continued stubbornly, snapping his and Yoichi's attention back to the spectacle. "And you must be a demon trying to deceive me with your Nobunaga talk!"
THUNK!
Nobunaga and the injured man yelped in surprised when an arrow flew right between their faces with enough force to embed itself in the wall behind them. It would seem Yoichi had finally gotten fed up with their little spat.
"Stop it." Yoichi said sternly, glaring at the two other men and latest addition to their little group was seeming to have second thoughts about joining them, and he couldn't have them scaring such an interesting person away, now could he?
David was just looking at the group with a resignated look as if he knew this was going to happen.
Nobunaga took the hint and plopped himself down under a banner that had a hastily painted Oda clan crest it. The injured man stayed where he was, frozen with caution, as Yoichi stepped out of the darkness and into the light of the campfire they had built on the stone floor.
"You are awake?" Yoichi asked the injured man as made his way towards the other men. "That's good news indeed." He said, smirking slighting. The injured man just stared at him, stunned, as cold sweat slid down the side of his face. "I've found another one." Yoichi informed Nobunaga, nodding his head at David, before thrusting his hand out, practically shoving the chicken he was strangling in front of the demon lord's face. "Pluck the feathers off." He ordered bluntly.
"Hm. I see." Nobunaga said simply, sweat dropping. It was generally best not to argue with Yoichi whenever he was in a dark mood like this. Though, he really wanted to question the newcomer now that he got a good look at him.
The man certainly did have some strange armor and weapons, even for a foreigner. Well, it didn't matter really, as long as the person could be used to his advantage. David and the injured man both sweat dropped as they watched the notorious man who had been the mastermind famous for unifying most of Japan through conquest and legendary battle tactics... pluck chicken feathers... He was doing it so seriously, too.
"Do you have your hands free?" Yoichi asked, turning to the bandaged man.
"Uh... yes." He replied a bit warily, sweat dropping. He decided he probably didn't want to find out what would happen to him if he refused.
"Pluck the feathers off." Yoichi deadpanned as he handed him a strangled chicken to work on. Finally, Yoichi turned to face David again.
"Pluck the feathers, right?" David interrupted before Yoichi could say anything as he took the dead chicken and plopped down and started plucking.
The four of them sat there in a heavy, awkward silence as they each plucked their own chicken inside a ruined castle, located god knows where.
The four men sat in silence while they watched their chickens roast over the fire, deep in thought as they pondered the strange circumstances that had brought them together. David took a glanced at the injured samurai, wondering who he might be. When he was just about to request a round of introductions when Nobunaga spoke up and broke the silence first.
"You said that Nobunaga died. So people really do assume that I died then?" He asked, furrowing his brow in irritation, while he chewed on a chicken feather.
"Right! He is dead! He was betrayed and killed by his servant Akechi and his hosts in the Honnouji Temple in Kyoto!" The injured samurai retorted angrily while clenching his jaw. "That was, eighteen years ago!"
"Wha... Do not say such nonsense!" Nobunaga shouted indignantly at the Samurai. "Eighteen years ago!? Less than sixth months have passed since that kumquat head assaulted Honnouji and I was sent to this world!"
David didn't get why they both seemed so upset, especially when the time difference was only a little less than two decades. Was he in denial about the situation or something? Because he was pretty sure he already knew who Yoichi was, and that time difference was a hell of a lot harder to reconcile with. Though, he had to admit, the kumquat head reference to Akechi Mitsuhide made him snort in amusement.
"Feh. That's why I'm saying that you are a devil from the Other World, or a wandering ghost." The injured samurai sneered. "Or perhaps... you are simply ordinary folk gone mad."
"Heh heh heh." Yoichi suddenly burst out in laughter. "Hahahahhaha!" The injured samurai glared at the archer, but Yoichi remained unintimidated. "For me, it is just too funny to see you making such a big deal over an insignificant matter like ten or fifteen years." He said smirking at him.
"Agreed." David said as he pinch the bridge of his nose as he is starting to from a headache trying to wrap his head around everything that had just happened in the last few hours. "How can you two get so hung up on the issue of one or two decades in the face of how impossible it is for any of us to be here in the first place?"
"And... Who are you?" The injured samurai finally inquired, furrowing his brow as he eyed the youngest members of their motley group with suspicion.
"Tell him. Tell him." Nobunaga urged them, sighing in annoyance. To be honest, he was curious about the strange foreign warrior in strange armor, but had been too caught up in his confrontation with the injured samurai to turn his attention to her sooner.
"Fine... I am Yoichi." Yoichi said, pausing for effect, as he stood to introduce himself. "Nasu no Suketaka Yoichi, that is my name to be more specific."
"Don't lie to me!" He shouted incredulously. "He's a man of the war between the Genji and the Heike clans! That was some four hundred years ago! It's just too absurd a story to believe!"
"Hmm... as absurd as it may seem, I am I." Yoichi replied calmly.
"That was my initial reaction, too." David admitted to the Samurai. "But if you think that's crazy listen to me. I'm about four hundred and something years away from you but from the future." That cause the injured samurai to snap his head towards David. "My named is David, David Mitchell Namikaze, Captain of the United States Marine Corps, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines." David introduced himself but saw the dumbfounded expression on everyone. "Namikaze is my family name. We say our names in the opposite order in my country. The United States of America, the country I was born and raised in, didn't even exist yet in your time." All three men looked at him with wide eyes upon hearing this.
"You can't be serious!? Wait, if you speak Japanese, then does that mean we conquered you?" Nobunaga asked curiously, stroking his beard.
"Nope, but it's the opposite." David shook his head at them. "You guys picked a fight with us, and the US Marines made you regret it big time." David explained but saw the look of horror on their faces. "But don't worry, we might've won the war, but Japan is still it's own nation and is doing quite well for itself now." David quickly explained calming them down. "My country just happens to be more culturally diverse. It was found by immigrants, and people from around the world still come to us in pursuit of the 'American dream', because we're said to be a land of plenty." David explained but they had a look of confusion. "I know I don't really look it, but I'm actually half Japanese on my father's side." David sighed.
"I suppose that would explain why you were so quick to recognise our names... if you are indeed from the future." Yoichi said thoughtfully.
The injured samurai broke out into a nervous sweat as he glanced between the two of them. It looked like his brain was going into overload. They could practically see smoke coming out of his ears.
"No!" He shouted stubbornly, refusing to accept that something so impossible could actually happen. "This is a dream! A bad dream for sure!"
"And you?" Nobunaga asked. "Who are you?"
"Shimazu!" He barked reluctantly after a few moments. "Shimazu Toyohisa! Son of Shimazu Iehisa!"
David blinked as he, Nobunaga and Yoichi stared blankly at him for a moment, unimpressed.
"Shimazu?" Nobunaga asked dubiously. "Who?... Oh, I see!" Nobunaga said suddenly as something about the name clicked into place. "Shimazu! That clan from Kyushu? The edge of Japan? Those incredibly provincial guys? Have to admit they never came to my attention." He said rather rudely and bluntly.
David look in deadpanned as he pullout his Bayonet and attached to the front of his M14, he was lucky he kept that M14 Bayonet from Vietnam. It was no surprise that Toyohisa was glaring daggers at him.
"I'll kill you!" The injured samurai seethed at the demon lord.
"I have also heard about Lord Shimazu." Yoichi said more pleasantly. "They were already present in my era as well. If I am not mistaken, he was a person from the outer rim of Kyushu." Yoichi continued. "Oh, so that means that the Shimazu are provincial generation after generation."
"That's it you are both dead!" Toyohisa growled angrily drawing his sword only to find David's Bayonet attached to the Rifle under his chin.
"Now hold on a minute." David said calmly, trying to avoid bloodshed. "The Shimazu Clan and Kyushu... Ah, ha! You're the guys from Satsuma, right?" David questioned, when Toyohisa nodded David gave a dangerous grin. "I remember my grandfather mentioning how your clan was renowned for the loyalty of its retainers and officers throughout Japan."
"Does that mean those provincial guys are actually famous?" Nobunaga asked with an incredibly skeptic look on his face.
"Well, maybe in Japan... but in my country, when most people hear 'Satsuma', they think of the band Sabaton and their song Shiroyama from the Album The Last Stand." David replied and at their curious look he added. "The Battle effectively ended the samurai class, as the new Imperial Japanese Army built off conscripts had proven itself in battle."
"Shiroyama?" Yoichi asked completely confused.
"It's better known as part of the Satsuma Rebellion." David explained. "Satsuma had been one of the key players in the Meiji Restoration and the Boshin War, and many men from Satsuma had risen to influential positions in the new Meiji government, but there was growing dissatisfaction with the direction the country was taking, modernisation meant the abolition of the privileged social status of the samurai class, and had undermined their financial position." And at their confused look David continued. "That and the very rapid and massive changes to Japanese culture, language, dress and society appeared to many samurai to be a betrayal of the jōi portion of the sonnō jōi justification used to overthrow the former Tokugawa shogunate." David deadpanned lowering his Rifle.
"A Rebelious samurai!" Nobunaga bust out laughing while several veins throbbed on Toyohisa's head. So much for trying to defuse that bomb.
"That's it!" Toyohisa roared furiously, jumping to his feet. "I! Will! Kill you! All!"
"You will die if you move so vigorously." Yoichi stated calmly. "May I remind you that you have just been stitched?"
"You needed stitches?" David frown slightly in concern. "What kind of wound is that? How bad is it?" David asked pulling out his First Aid Kit as he approached the injured man, ignoring the sword in his hand.
"Wha...?" Toyohisa caught off guard. Why was this bastard being so pushy all of a sudden?
"Let me take a look." David said. "I have medical training."
"Are you a doctor as well as a warrior?" Nobunaga asked confused.
"No I am a Medic." David answered. "I am a Warrior but who said anything about a Doctor?"
"What kind of futuristic armor you are wearing?" Yoichi asked curious.
"This wouldn't stop swords combat maybe a knife but it's design to stop bullets." David explained pulling out a few things.
"What kind of Armor doesn't protect you from swords." Nobunaga pointed out. "What's a 'Marine'?"
"You don't know? I guess don't have Marines yet... I guess you can think of it as the Navy's Infantry Contingent." David explained. "The US Marines are considered one of the few Elite Naval Infantry Units."
"Well that's unique." Yoichi said.
"What kind of Navy sent their men to fight on land?" Toyohisa asked, the Navy is to fight other ships not men on the ground.
"Just shut up and sit down." David said sternly pushing him back onto the stone bench.
"Wha!?" He shouted incredulously when he took advantage of his surprise to examine the wound.
"Hot Damn. What did you do? Belly flop onto a rack of knives or something!?" David asked with a chuckle, when he saw wounds. "Well, you're a tough bastard, I'll give you that. But don't push yourself, or your stitches will pop, and we'll have to patch you up again." David chuckled pulling out a few tubes. "These wounds are going to need to be washed constantly with boiled water to make sure they don't get infected. Time to give you some Morphine."
"Give me what?" Toyohisa asked, furrowing his brow in confusion, as David fixed his bandages and then suddenly stab him with a tube causing him to yelp in pain.
"It's a medicine from my time. It takes away the pain, but to much can kill you." David explained and he pullout the needle and threw it into the fire.
"Can you make more of the medicine if you can find the ingredients?" Nobunaga asked curiously.
"Probably not." David replied honestly as he never learn how to make one during his time as the gamer. "But I might be able to make some simpler herbal alternatives using some old family recipes... Hey, does anyone smell burning meat?"
They all immediately whipped their heads over to check the chicken that they had almost forgotten they had left to cook and made a made dash to pulled the roasted birds out before the meat became inedible.
"Nobunaga... right?" Toyohisa asked slowly once they had a moment to settle down, and he had processed the incredible and unbelievable things he had heard from the others.
"Indeed." Nobunaga replied calmly.
"Weren't you killed in the Honnouji Temple?" Toyohisa asked. "You were supposed to be dead!"
"Hah. Do you think that I would allow myself to be killed by that bald idiot?" Nobunaga asked cynically. "I was running with Ranmaru, in order to flee from the temple, and then... I came upon a weird 'place'. It was a strange corridor, paved stones, and the walls were full of doors. And in the midst of that corridor, there was that strange man seem to hold court."
"So you saw him, too?" David asked raising his brow slightly.
"Too?" Nobunaga asked.
"Yes. The enemy decided I was important enough for some overkill, and then suddenly I was in that same corridor. The man opened a door, and I got sucked into wherever this is. " David explained.
"The same happened to me. I also met that man." Yoichi said.
"I have also met that man, too!" Toyohisa exclaimed. "In the middle of retreating from the crucial battle in Sekigahara!"
"Sekigahara? You mean that place in Mino?" Nobunaga asked, suddenly feeling nostalgic.
"Yeah. A huge battle between the Tokugawa forces and the Ishida forces." Toyohisa said bluntly.
"Huh!?" Nobunaga shouted as all the color suddenly drained from his face. "Wait! Wait! Wait!" The feudal lord was extremely confused. "Ishida? That tea guy? Why would Tokugawa battle in such a place?"
"Why? Because after the death of the Kanpaku, the Region has gone back to Civil War!" Toyohisa exclaimed as if it should have been obvious.
"Kanpaku? Why on earth would a kanpaku rule the world!?" Nobunaga asked dubiously.
"Because the Kanpaku has taken over the world." Toyohisa replied bluntly.
"He's talking about your Hideyoshi." David chimed in and that cause Nobunaga turned blue with shock.
"Wait a damn freaking second! Why would that bald mouse... be able to take over the world!?" He demanded incredulously.
"Don't you mean 'monkey'?" David asked calmly with a hint of amusement.
"To hell with you!" Toyohisa shouted angrily. "I'm fed up with explaining! He killed Akechi, exterminated Shibata, and took over the world! Yes, he, Hideyoshi!" Toyohisa continued angrily
"Ka... Katsue was killed!?" Nobunaga shouted in disbelief. "What about Oichi?"
"How the hell should I know!?" Toyohisa shouted back.
"I'm sorry." David said sympathetically as he patted his back. "She was married to Shibata, so she sent her daughters away after Hideyoshi laid siege to the castle. The couple is said to have died in the burning castle, but her three daughters survived and married well."
"What!?" Nobunaga cried. "What about Niwa!? And Kazumasu!? And Toshiie!?"
"Who are you talking about!?" Toyohisa shouted.
"I don't remember much about them, either." David shurgged.
"What!? Why not!?" Nobunaga demanded.
"Yeah! How can you remember what happened to his sister but not his men!?" Toyohisa shouted turning towards him.
"I don't know!" David retorted defensively. "It was the only few surviving records after we firebomb Japan." David retorted.
"That makes no sense!" Toyohisa yelled.
"Stop yelling at me!" David yelled back raising his rifle and bayonet.
"Anyway! The Oda clan is a lowly servant of the Tokugawa now!" Toyohisa said, turning back to Nobunaga. "Nobody remembers that 'Tenka Fubu' stuff anymore!"
"WHAAAT!?" Nobunaga roared incredulously.
"Agh!" David shouted anger. "Can everybody just take a moment and calm down!? I'm gonna go deaf if you guys keep this up. Don't you people know what 'inside voices' are?" David demanded.
"And Nobutada?" Nobunaga asked much more calmly after a moment of silence. "What happened to... my son...?"
"He is dead!" Toyohisa said when he noticed David's reluctance to answer he continued. "His Nijo castle was seized by Mistuhide! He thought you were dead, so he fought to the bitter end!" Toyohisa told him, clenching his fist.
"Hah hah hah! Hahaha! What a foolish son!" Nobunaga laughed. "That fool... that fool..." He clenched his trembling fists tighter. "He should have run a way sooner!" He said regretfully. "Hahaha, they say that a man lives for fifty years. But my fifty years... were all in vain, it seems."
"I wouldn't say that. " David suddenly interject looking the demon lord in the eye. "There's a saying about you and your two successors in Japan: 'Nobunaga pounds the national rice cake, Hideyoshi kneeds it, and in the end Tokugawa sits down and eats it.' It may not seem like much in the face of your personal loss, but what you did was important." At Nobunaga's look he continued. "You laid the foundation for the reunification of Japan. You set important events into motion that allowed Japan to become a great empire again. Your actions led Emperor Meiji to start the Meiji Restoration, the reunification and modernisation of Japan."
"Nothing lasts forever." Yoichi added. "I was also surprised to hear from Lord Nobunaga that the Genji clan had been exterminated and the Kamakura Shogunate was over."
"Since you said you were Nobunaga," Toyohisa began a bit cautiously. "When I saw this other man... I thought he was that famous Ranmaru." More than that, he had thought he was a woman. Yoichi was too delicate looking.
"It would be great if he was Ranmaru, but..." Nobunaga said with a perverted gleam in his eye.
Yoichi gave a questioning glance at David. "Trust me. You don't want to know." David said shaking his head, he remembered that part of history all to well, but the look on Nobunaga's face was kind of creepy.
Sometimes, to defend peace, you must wage war.
