Pairing: Kakashi & Iruka
Notes: Something fluffy for the summer
Thunder and sun
The rain refused to stop. The hot summer days had ended briefly to be replaced by gray clouds. Nonetheless, the downpour was welcomed as it cooled Konoha and the citizens. Kakashi was sitting comfortably on his bed, nose buried in his favourite book which he read lazily for sheer amusement. He practically knew the entire book by heart after re-reading it so many times. His mask was down, his hair was messy and his feet were bare. The rain hitting the window behind him made a nice sound in the background. This was his type of summer holiday and he didn't mind the rain. If anything, he actually liked it. Even thunder didn't bother him. The direct opposite of someone he knew that disliked the rain and hated thunder.
Kakashi's lips curved softly at the memory of his lover and how he pretended to be indifferent to the roars of a thundering storm yet twitched pitifully each time it rolled and struck while trying to get some sleep. Kakashi embraced him from behind even when Iruka protested, stating that he didn't need to be comforted like a child. Kakashi hummed a reply and hugged him closer until Iruka melted against him and finally relaxed enough to fall asleep. It was a contradiction, how Iruka fell for someone that controlled what he hated. Lightning. Kakashi pointed that out at the breakfast table. "Opposites attract." Is what Iruka had replied with a crooked grin.
Iruka liked the sun. The teacher utilized the warm days and held classes outdoors. His body was naturally tanned but when spending time outside he would get darker and the scar across his nose would stand out even more. Kakashi liked to compare his fair skin to his lover's as they lay side by side in bed. He liked that mocha-like colour. It looked nice against his own skin.
The door opened and closed, there was no need to knock anymore at this stage of their relationship. Iruka's class had ended and he was heading back for his shift at the mission room. He had taken time to visit Kakashi before that. Kakashi could hear a tired sigh from the hall, his apartment being fairly cramped. Iruka dropped his umbrella by the door and headed further in to his lover's home.
"Long day?" Kakashi looked up from his book.
"It's not over yet." Iruka gave a small smile and went in to the man's bedroom.
He lay down beside Kakashi, his scent and warm body inviting him. The other placed his book on his window seat and wrapped his arms around the tired body. Iruka sighed again. It was almost strange how such a small act meant so much to the teacher and how much it affected him. Kakashi brushed his cheek against his lover's and pressed his lips onto his earlobe. Iruka thought that he could gladly stay like this forever and never set a foot outside of the apartment again. Just stay like that, pressed tightly to Kakashi's chest, feelings his heart beat against the tip of his fingers. It gave him strength to continue his tedious tasks and face the rain outside, no matter how cold it was. Kakashi inhaled Iruka's scent, drowning in his personal heat. Kakashi liked the rain, but he still preferred the warm sun.
The end
