Alice and the Dog
One day, Alice and Bella, and I were laying on the grass waiting for the boys to come home from hunting. They were just talking, not doing much else when Alice heard something. That's right, heard, not saw.
"Do you hear that small sound coming from the direction of the driveway?" She said.
"I hear it too." I stated loudly.
"Edward!!" Bella sang excitedly.
"It's not Edward." I said to her disappointment.
At that moment a little dog ran out from a bush near the driveway.
"Oh what a cutie!" Alice exclaimed as a little cha-wa-wa ran over to us, but when it got near the hackles raised on the back of it's neck and it began growling at Alice. Bella and I laughed.
"Maybe it doesn't like you because you are a vampire and it is in it's instincts not to come near anything dangerous." I told her.
"Hypocrite."
I knelt down and patted my legs, a common way to summon a dog. It ran to me and jumped up onto my lap and began to lick my face.
"Well, at least I don't smell like a dog!" Alice said, "Not that kind of dog Bella, the pet kind." Alice revised when she saw the look Bella was giving her.
"I want to keep him." Said Bella, "He looks adorable."
The dog looked at Alice and growled again.
"We should name her Alice, in honor of Alice." I laughed.
Weeks later the dog was really getting on Alice's nerves. It hated only her and when someone would call it, she would think that they were calling her and after a while that began to irritate her.
Since the dog had no collar, she couldn't return it. Alice found herself facing a huge problem. What was she going to do?
