This is a poem from Alice's POV about the beginning of her new life.

I was alone in the darkness. My family had left me. I had nothing, except hope. I knew what was coming, so I kept hoping. As long as I knew my future, I was hopeful. I would not give up.
They abandoned me
and left me to die
They did not want me
but I did not cry
I have seen my future
And I knew of my fate
In a vision that comes
frequently, as of late
Of that sandy haired man
and that family of five
They are all in my future
And toward that I strive
My old life ended in darkness
And my new one began just the same
All alone in the woods
I awoke with a start;
I could barely remember my name
But I pulled myself up
And I held my head high
I followed my gut
And looked up at the sky
I knew what I was,
and what I had to do
I would not give up,
I would always pursue
As the light began spreading
I started to run
Out of the darkness
And into the sun
