AN: Written for Ralinde's Pairing Diversity Boot Camp to the prompt of macaw
If You Were a Bird:
"Hey Frank!"
The fifth year Gryffindor looked up from his potions essay as he saw Alice, another fellow fifth year Gryffindor make her way over to him. She smiled brightly as she took the seat next to him, setting her potions book down on the table.
Frank smiled at her, nodding once. "Hey Alice, finishing up homework?"
The brunette nodded as she gave him a smile. "Yup, I just need to correct the essay for Slughorn's next class and then that's it. What about you?"
He nodded once. "Same thing."
The two of them worked in silence as their quills moved back and forth atop the parchment. It was a quiet few minutes until Frank stopped, setting the quill down on the table. "Hey, Alice?"
The fifteen year old, glancing over at him. "Yeah? What is it?"
"If you were a bird, what kind of bird would you be?"
She looked a bit taken aback by the question, not expecting it. It was rather odd and kind of out there. "Well, I'm not sure."
There was another silent moment between the two of them. It stayed silent for a long while as they wrote their essays. After awhile, Alice cleared her throat. "I would be a macaw."
"What?"
"For the bird, I think I would be a macaw. I mean, they're really beautiful and all. I love them."
Frank stared at her for a long moment before grinning. "Yeah, I can see that."
