Hey guys! I hope everyone had a good holiday! This is just a little drabble. The quote is one of my favorites. Let me know what you think!!

"Nothing spoils the taste of peanut butter
like unrequited love." Charlie Brown

Casey was sitting at the kitchen table, homework spread in front of her. Finals were coming up and Casey was feeling the pressure. Leaning back in the chair, she pulled her hair out of the falling ponytail and shook it loose. Casey began to put her hair back up when the hair tie snapped in half.

"Ugh!" Casey groaned in frustration. She found a spare pencil and twisted her hair up; she stabbed the pencil into her hair and weaved it in and out, creating a messy bun. Standing up, she walked over to the refrigerator and pulled out an apple. She placed the apple on to the counter top and grabbed a plate and a knife. Casey began to slice the apple when she heard her stepbrother walk into the kitchen.

"Hey, Space Case. Whatcha doing?" Derek asked as he walked to get the carton of milk.

"Playing soccer." Casey said without looking up. She turned around and got a spoon from the drawer and the peanut butter from the pantry. Turning around, she stumbled into Derek who had walked up silently behind her. Placing her hand on his chest she began to push him away when she noticed something.

"Derek, why are you not wearing a shirt?" Casey questioned as she looked up into his face.

Derek smirked and put his arms around Casey's waist, effectively trapping her against him.

"I just got out of the shower and came down to get a clean shirt from the laundry. Why? Do you like what you see?"

Casey snorted and began to squirm, she didn't want Derek to know how much he was affecting her right now. "No, Derek. It's vile. Go put clothes on, no one should have to see that."

Derek looked down at her before grinning. He leaned back a little and shook his wet hair all over Casey, much like a dog.

"Ew! Derek! Was that really necessary?" Casey said as she broke out of Derek's grasp.

Derek shrugged and grinned. "No, but it was fun." Derek took a drink of milk out of the carton and put it back while Casey put some peanut butter in a dish. Grabbing a piece of Casey's apple, Derek winked at her and sauntered out of the room.

Casey sucked in her breath as he walked out. Trying to ignore the blush she knew was rising in her cheeks, she dipped a piece of apple into the peanut butter. Taking a small bite, she sighed and sat down on the stool. She heard Derek walk back downstairs and yell to George that he was going out to pick up Kendra for their date. Glancing out the door, Casey sadly noted that not only did he now have a shirt on, he looked amazing in it. Derek glanced into the kitchen and smirked at Casey. Giving her a quick salute, he walked out of her view. Casey heard the front door open and close. Tossing her half eaten apple piece with peanut butter back onto the plate, Casey sighed and rested her head in her hands.

George walked into the kitchen and saw Casey sitting in front of a plate of apple pieces and peanut butter.

"What's wrong, Casey? Is the peanut butter spoiled?" George asked his stepdaughter.

Casey flashed George a quick and shaky smile. "It's ok, George. You know what they say…nothing spoils the taste of peanut butter…"

George's face softened and he put an arm around Casey. "Like unrequited love." George tightened his arm around Casey and walked out of the kitchen.
