A/N: This is just one scene of a story I've been working on. I'm not really sure why I like it, but I really do, so I decided to put it up here. This is set in the Marauder Era and it's told from my OC's point of view. It's kind of just a drabble. Oh, and it never says who the guy in this is, so I'll just tell you that it's a young Sirius.

Disclaimer: The only thing I own here is Faith Watson. Everything else belongs to the amazing J.K. Rowling.

Faith Watson watched the black-haired boy as he stepped up next to the train. A bright smile covered his face as he laughed with his friend. That very smile would have made almost any person melt, but Faith would not be one of those people.

She glared, not so much at the boy, but at those perfectly white teeth, at the spread of his mouth. Before school he hadn't smiled like that. When they'd sat together behind the dead bushes in the park, he hadn't smiled like that. He hadn't smiled at all.

Just days before, she would have given anything to see his lips twitch upward, but it wasn't the same now. The second he stepped onto Platform 9 ¾, everything changed. He would plaster that smile on his face, masking himself. He would run to his friends, keeping his pearly teeth in view at every moment, and he would forget all about her.

She should have known. After all, he'd done the same thing the first four years. And now she would be expected to forget him as well. Turning away and letting her dark brown curls block her view of him, she thought, That's okay. After all, he would come running back to her next summer, and then she would fix his smile.
