The end of Yuna's journey.
The last chapter in my story.
It represented so many things. How could we have known in those last days that we would never set eyes upon each other again after Sin was defeated? We knew, of course; but who could have known that it would not be Yuna who would fade, but... me?
I could feel it in Yunalesca's words. She knew our fate. She knew everything and now I blame myself for trying to run from our destiny.
I knew as we entered the abyss of Sin that we would not all return the way we came.
Some of us, most of us, would become stronger.
Others would go on and persue a new life.
But I... well, my time was up.
Sitting there, listening to the Hymn of the Fayth for the last time on the Airship, I knew this was goodbye.
"Yuna... I have to go."
"...No..."
"I'm... sorry I couldn't show you Zanarkand."
We'd always talked about it, she and I... going to Zanarkand. The city that never sleeps. I wanted so badly to be able to hold her in my arms as the sun rose above the city, watching everything glow.
I gave her my final goodbye and heard those words... "I love you."
I held her as best as I could, fading away. Walking through her, I felt her thoughts somehow and jumped. I saw my time with her flashing before my eyes.
...sweat dripping off of her face as she announced that she'd finally become a summoner...
...the nights aboard the ships...
...the blitzball tournament...
...Macalania lake...
...her soft lips touching mine...
Her final confession of love to me.
NO! This can't be happening! I love her!
...Please...
I want to be here with her.
Forever...
