Ron Weasley had never liked Snape and that was an understatement. But currently, he really didn't like Umbridge more.
After she had finished disrupting Snape's class, Ron was stunned. Not with Umbridge's remarks about Snape's lack of ability to get the position he wanted, but with Snape's actions himself.
Snape was known to be down-right unpleasant, mean, petty, nasty, greasy, well you get the idea. He was known for his great skill at potions, spells, and other unsavory things. Potions Master and Death Eater Extraordinaire.
But after Umbridge swept out of his classroom, he chose to attack Ron with… a book. A good ol' whollop. With a book.
Ron stared at Snape in incredulity, but said nothing.

"Ron, are you feeling okay?" Hermione asked, staring intently at his face.
"Huh, why?"
"Because you never miss an opportunity to whine about Professor Snape."
"Yeah, well… for once, I actually think we're all on the same side." And with this he glared at Umbridge sitting up at the High Table.
At that moment, Ron heard a silky voice behind him, which was so quiet he almost missed hearing the message.
"One point to Gryffindor, Mr. Weasley."
