Another short story? I seriously write too many…oh well X3

Prompt: I woke up thinking "Life isn't fair…people die at the worst times" and got the idea…

It was raining.

That was the first thing L noticed when he looked out the window. The rain battered down on the pavement of the street in front of him, turning the sky a dark grey.

He didn't want to go in that. But he had to. He arranged to meet Beyond Birthday.

It was stupid, what he was doing. Arranging to meet with a crazy serial murderer, especially in the middle of the Kira case. But, when he got that email, he felt that he had to.

Only Watari knew he was meeting someone. Only L himself knew who he was meeting.

Making his way out of the hotel, L thought about what was going to happen. Was Beyond gonna kill him?

As he walked out the door of the hotel lobby, he momentarily stopped, and mentally checked to see if he really wanted to do this.

Feeling no doubt about it, L walked on, towards the street corner Beyond told him to go to.

When he got there, all he could do was gasp.

Beyond was laying down on the dark street corner, bloody and bruised.

"Beyond?" L gasped, falling down and sitting next to Beyond.

Beyond raised his head slightly. "Mnnmh….L?" He asked, opening his blood red eyes.

"Beyond…oh, Beyond, what happened?" L asked. He leaned over Beyond, protecting him from the rain.

"Man…beat me…stabbed me...left me here….while I waited…" Beyond coughed, blood splattering on his shirt.

"Don't talk too much," L said, not knowing what to do. He lifted Beyond's bloodstained shirt, seeing a stab wound on his stomach. He pressed down his hand onto the wound. "Everything's gonna be okay…" L said this mainly to calm himself down.

"N…no…L…it wont," Beyond said, shaking from the cold. "I'm dying…I can feel it…" Coughing up more blood, he licked his lips slightly.

"No…you wont….it's not fair…" L said, hot tears forming in his eyes. He continued to push on Beyond's wound, ignoring the blood on his hand.

"It's true…" Beyond said. He winced, the pushing on his wound hurt. "You can't run from the truth…"

"Beyond….I came for a reason, you're not gonna die…" L said, a tear falling from his face to Beyonds.

It was joined by another single tear, from Beyond this time. "I asked you to come for a reason….I …I l-love you, L…" Beyond said, more tears falling.

L let his tears come out too, warm compared to the rain. He realised why he jumped at the chance to meet Beyond, why he didn't care how unsafe it was.

He. Loved. Beyond.

It was no use running away from the truth. No matter how far you ran, it's still there.

"I love you too…." L said. "You can't die…it's not fair…" L leaned down and held Beyond in his arms, ignoring the stab wound.

"L…something I've learned in life….it isn't fair. Life isn't fair. Death isn't fair…" Beyond said, looking into L's eyes. Hot tears mixed with the rain on his face. It was pale, even for him and L.

"No….don't say that…" L said, leaning down, staining Beyond's shirt with tears. Beyond placed a kiss on L's head.

"You can't run from the truth…" Beyond said.

"I want to." L said.

"Life isn't fair, it fucks everything u-up in the w-worst ways…" Beyond said, crying. He coughed up more blood, trying to not get it in L's hair. "P-People die…." Beyond buried his face in L's hair. "At the worst times. I love you, L"

"I love you too," L said, grabbing Beyond's hand.

Beyond held L's hand, smiled, kissed L's head again, then…

His breathing stopped. His grip loosened.

Beyond had died in the arms of the man he loved.

L sat there over night, just holding onto Beyond's body.

"I love you, Beyond" he sobbed, repeating this throughout the night. "I always loved you…"

It's kinda short…oh well…..if I feel like it I may add more chapters…
