A/N: In my opinion, 'The Man in the Mansion' could've had a lot more Angela/Jack scenes. SO I wrote one. P I'd love to hear what you think!

Leaving
"Hey, Jack, are you okay?" Angela had seen the interaction between him, Brennan, and Cam but hoped she had misinterpreted it.
"I'm fine," Jack mumbled, avoiding her eyes as he kept walking.
She put a hand on his arm, stopping him. "Are you sure? Because you don't seem it."
"I quit."
"What?"
"I handed in my resignation. I don't work here anymore." He started to walk away again, only to be stopped my Angela's hand once more. This time, she kept it there.
"Why?" she asked, a look of shock firmly in place on her face.
"It's just better this way."
"Why?" she asked again, more forcefully this time.
"Because I messed up badly on this case, Angela. I didn't tell anyone that I knew Terry and Clarissa, and I tampered with evidence."
"Then just don't work the case." Jack shook his head. "It's not that easy. Because of this, all my credibilty's gone out the window. Hell, I've put the credibility of the entire lab on the line. If I stuck around, there would probably be an investigation into how we work here. And I don't want to put you guys through that. You, especially. I'm doing this for the team."
"But you're part of the team - a huge part of it. You can't just leave." While her face and voice remained calm, Angela's eyes revealed her inner turmoil.
"You guys will get along fine without me," he assured her.
"I won't."
"Look on the bright side, baby." Jack gave her a pained grin. "At least you don't have to worry about dating your co-worker anymore." With one swift motion, he gave her a quick peck on the cheek. "I'll call you."
Then he walked away, leaving a silent Angela to watch he go.
