"Oh."
Was the only word that had left her mouth upon arriving at the Eastern Air Temple. What she was seeing was very different from the accounts others had told her. She now had felt foolish, thinking of what those idiot friends of hers had said, and even more foolish for believing it. There was a celebration held in her honor and she felt guilty while the others danced with merriment and feasted on a wholly vegetarian meal. Which delicious as it surely was, she couldn't bring herself to eat much. That night, after the celebration of her arrival had ended and the temple had quieted down, her would-be airbending teacher, Master Dechen, came in to check and see how her newest student was settling in. The conversation started off simple enough, Dechen asked the girl how she had got along with everyone earlier, and if she was comfortable. When the topic of her student's gnawing embarrassment came up, Master Dechen just laughed. The airbender guffawed loudly, but not unpleasantly so, causing her new student to laugh, albeit nervously, along with her. Giggling more quietly, Dechen reached up and put a trembling hand on the girl's shoulder, whole body still shaking with barely contained glee.
Smiling, Dechen spoke, "Well dear, it must have been quite a shock. Did you think that all the airbending women were bald too? Goodness me!"
Kyoshi smiled looking down, "I'm sorry that was quite silly of me, wasn't it?"
