Avatar and all the canon characters from it belong to James Cameron and the studios that produced it. Original characters belong to me, and all the referenced pop-culture stuff belong to their own owner. I don't make a single cent, penny, knut or whatever other monetary unit could exist out there. This is just for the fun, blokes!

Chapter 1: TRUDY
The image wavered, blurred, then finally stabilized.
A hand filled the image, twisting.
« Is this still on? » A femine voice asked.
The hand pulled away, revealing a pretty, brown haired woman of latin descend.
From the decors around her, she was sitting in a mobile habitat, and it was pretty crowded.
A man in a wheelchair behind her was talking with a tall lanky fellow you'd have though was still in his teens if now for the sparse hair on his chin, and a taller, blue skinned beauty, a Na'vi woman.
The brunette gazed in the small camera, her brown eyes standing out of the blue war paint that covered her face from her eyebrows to her cheebones.
« This is Trudy Chacon reporting from Pandora. I won't say where exactly. If we won, at the time you watch this, you already know where I am. If we lost, it's better left unsaid in case there is Na'vi hiding nearby. »
The young woman, Trudy, turned away from the camera, and her gaze met the Na'vi woman's. The Na'vi smiled at her and nodded, obviously grateful to Trudy for keeping it a secret.
« We're about to meet the RDA thugs in about… » Trudy checked her wristwatch, « Two hours. That's right, we're siding with the Na'vi. I'm siding with the Na'vi. That makes her traitors, we're aware of this. Traitors to the human race, 'Punny' Parker Selfridge would say. But I say, the Human Race -note the Capital H and R - betrayed us all when it killed Earth and keeps on living on her corpse, dying slowly and corrupting, killing other worlds to keep on living. And chief among these corrupters the R.D.A. It's an evil empire and the right thing to do is to resist it, to refuse it, to fight it with all you've got. Follow the white rabbit, to use an old reference»
The woman behind Trudy arched an eyebrow. Even the two human men stared at her. They didn't know she felt that way, or that she verbally exposed those feelings on camera, knowing, bitterly that the authorities wouldn't hesitate to view those video files they forced every men and women under their employment.
« You speak like Tsu'they. Of your own people. Why? » the woman asked, confusion mixed with disapproval.
Trudy turned around to face the Na'vi woman.
« Because what my own people do is wrong, Neytiri. If they don't actively seek to amass riches, they're go about their lives, head bowed obedient like cattle and watch televisions for hours on believing everything they're told. There used to be a saying, on Earth. All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good man do nothing. »
« Edmund Burke. » said the tall lanky man, obviously impressed.
Trudy shrugged
«Hell if I know, Norm. That's something my mother used to say. »
The man in the wheel chair nodded, and the Na'vi woman, Neytiri, put a hand on his shoulder. He covered her blue, four fingered hand with his pink five fingered and smaller own.
« My brother, Tom, he used to say that. He was pissed at me when I joined the Marines. He said I was going to be part of the problem, not the solution. »
« Still, you are making the mistake I had before I met Jake, Trudy. You condamn a whole race for the crime of some. There is evil in every race, tsumuke. I know that you know this, you, Grace, Norman, Jake have reminded me that there is good also.»
After a pregnant silence, Trudy turned back to camera.
« The blue hottie you see behind me is Neytiri. I won't say what she is to her people. If we have lost, saying it out loud would put a bigger target on her back than there already is. I got to meet her at Grace Funeral, a few days ago. »
Behind Trudy, Neytiri smiled a sad smile. She too had lost a friend, a mentor in Grace, like Trudy had.
« We didn't talk much then, but after she and Jake -what's wheel dude behind me like glaring daggers in my back- came back from drafting some of the clans, we had some opportunity to get to know each other. She came to our base, here, and saw Jake in his human self for the first time. I don't think they've been apart for a moment since, in either form. She is wise and with a big heart. Fierce and protective. Aside from Jake, she's the one I trust to watch my six without the shadow of a doubt.»
If any human ever saw a Na'vi blush, those who would watch this video would. Neytiri smiled at Trudy and said « I see you, Trudy. »
Trudy smiled at Neytiri and replied in kind.
« And I'm proud to call her my friend. This is for her, for her clan, her people, that I will fight, that I've gone rogue. Because this is right. »
With a gesture of her arm she encompassed the trio behind her.
« With and for my friends. The only family I've had left in the world. »
Trudy shifted on her seat, and her hand moved behind the camera's range.
« Now, if you don't mind, I've got work to do. That's all folks. This is Trudy Chacon, signing off. »
