Roots
They grew from seeds together
Sprouting in each other's like-ness
And sharing matrimony in
The dirt beneath their roots
Two soul-bound entities
Meant for eternal existence
Through soft springs, and wary winters
Extending their branches, like
Fingertips desperate for infinite contact
But creatures of higher chains
Made sanction to one lover,
And soon the leaves fell from
Her temple, and her life collapsed
Into the very roots that
Held them together
For her, he chose to reach higher
His outer-most ligaments played
Piano with the clouds, and for
Her, their roots would live on
Forever
