Dean's eyes drifted opened. He blinked a few times then squinted, bringing Sam into focus. "You don't have to hover, you know?" His voice was low and raspy, lacking energy, but a rhythmic beeping accompanied his words.
"I know," Sam replied, his voice equally low. "I can't seem to help it."
"I'm okay, Sammy."
"Now. Now you're okay. But you weren't. I watched them start your heart again." Sam scooted closer to the hospital bed and wrapped his fingers around Dean's arm. "And again."
Dean shifted carefully and patted Sam's hand. "No worries, Sammy. I'm still here."
