One hour since he had passed since he had jumped through the mirror to save Madame de Pompadour. Rose rushed about, checking various dials to make sure everything would be okay for when he came back. Wouldn't take him long. He would probably be back in no time.

Two hours had passed since he had jumped through the mirror to help the damsel in distress. She kept chanting in her head that he would come back. She just had to wait. He would never leave her abandoned on some spaceship. She didn't even know how to pilot the TARDIS. She hoped the TARDIS would at least realise that they had to get out somehow and help them. But she wouldn't do that for a while. She had to wait. He would come. She knew he would.

Three hours had past since he had jumped through the mirror to save one of the most accomplished woman in history. Mickey was beginning to get restless, constantly reminding her that the Doctor had left. She couldn't speak. She was starting to believe him. A solitary tear rolled down her cheek as negative thoughts began to pour through her mind. She tried to keep positive. She had to. If she gave up now, then she would never believe that he could come back. He would come back, he had to.

Four hours had past since he had jumped through the mirror to save the woman she now realised he loved. A dull pain ached in her heart as she realised he didn't love her, but the smart and gorgeous woman he had met only hours ago. She stared up at the stars, knowing somehow that somewhere in France in the Eighteenth century, he would be staring at them too. That comforted her, knowing that he might possibly be thinking of her. The stars twinkled and she thought instantly of his brown eyes which had always twinkled with enthusiasm and love as they met new people and seen new things. The twinkle he had when he held her. She sighed, stopping the tears from spilling from her eyes. He would have that twinkle with Reinette now. She just hoped she would appreciate it.

Five and a half hours since he had rode away from her on a brilliantly white horse and he had arrived. She clung to him tightly, not wanting to let go in case he ran off again. She knew he would come back eventually. She knew she should never have doubted him. She watched with sparkling eyes as he shook Mickey's hand and sent them into the TARDIS. The light in her eyes dimmed as she saw him run back to the fireplace, yelling on Madame de Pompadour.

Six hours since he had jumped through the mirror, away from her life forever. She showed Mickey around, leaving him in the kitchen to go and see the Doctor. She didn't say anything, but she held out her arms to him. He collapsed into them, not crying but glad of the comfort her arms held for him. It was then Rose realised she was lucky, for she had him always, no matter what happened. She supposed that was the good thing about him being a Time Lord. He had one heart for her, and one heart for everyone and everything else in the universe. And she would never change that.
