Really, don't ask why I'm starting another story. And the day after Katsu-kun's birthday too... (sighs) Oh well.

Disclaimer: No. I have two dollars. My lunch money. Thats it.

The Gift of Luck

Katsuya lay on the couch, candy cane forgotten in his mouth as he thought over all that had happened today.

You see, it was his birthday, the 25th of January.

This one was much more enjoyable than most of them, seeing as he had more than one friend now, his sister had managed to get the money together to fly out to see him (she claimed that the tickets had been sent to her along with a note as to their specific purpose.), and for the day Kaiba had backed off on any and all dog jokes.

The Goddess of Luck had kept a special seat on the bus that ran by his house all the way to school (it had also been late as well), meaning that he actually got to school before it started. As soon as he had walked into the building, the sky let down buckets of rain.

Jou hummed happily, peacefully dry.

The rest of his day had skated along smoothly, and the rain had turned to snow by the time that school had let out.

The whole Yuugi-tachi had gone to the game shop, seeing as that was the only place that was big enough to hold them all.

The Goddess of Luck had also convinced Shizuka to suddenly appear at the game shop instead of where her brother lived.

Despite the fact that she passed his home on the way.

Festivities had gone on as Yuugi planned, and they played the various games until it was time for cake. He grinned, remembering the light that had shone off from those lone eighteen candles, feeling as if he had earned each and every single one.

You did.

Katsuya gave a lazy nod, agreeing with the words. As in all the years past, he had wished, really, for only one thing: to be graceful.

An odd thought, but not once you looked at it. He was always tripping over things, even things that didn't exist. He could trip over his own feet on a flat plane. He always misjudged distances, as if he was expecting for his arms to be longer than they where. It really hadn't been a real big problem when he was younger, but as soon as he had started to grow in earnest, his sense of equilibrium had been put severely off balance.

He gave a random thought that equated something around maybe he should have been asking to be taller all this time.

That's right.

His eyes slid shut, brain slowing as sleep started to grip it.

The snow and ice from before had also contributed to the most important gift of the day. The gift of having a safe place to stay for the night and most likely no school tomorrow.

The candy cane fell to the floor of the game shop, and rolling underneath the toes of a beautiful shimmering blonde. A worn smile was wrought across her face as she stepped forward and brushed back the silk of Jou's hair for a second.

She lowered her face to his forehead, her lips brushing as she spoke. She closed her blue eyes.

I give you one last gift. The gift of Luck.

She allowed her lips to press against the blond mortals forehead before she drew back and smiled.

May all your wishes finally come true Katsuya. You deserve it.

With a final nod, she swept off into her home plane, leaving a dusting of LuckGlitter in her wake.
