Priority
Would she break the 'priority of life code' to save Sam's life? I love him and would do anything to keep him safe but we work so fluidly together always being at our best when paired together, knowing we have no reason to fear for each other's safety as long as we're together. When I was shot Sam's concern for me stopped him for just a heartbeat, but when the bullets started hitting the shield he still was able to let Ed and Spike know where the shots were coming from. I'd like to think that I would do the same but I just don't know.
Is it even just Sam? The whole team is family; wouldn't anyone of us potentially be tempted to save a teammate first? Wasn't Spike so tunnel visioned on finding a way to save Lew that he forgot there was still a bomb that needed to be disposed of? No one seemed to question whether best friends would break the code for each other. Why should anyone think I'd be more likely to save Sam first just because we are sleeping together?
If anything the team was better when we were together. We were more focused on the job last time we were together, not distracted by being so close to what we couldn't have. No matter what, our feelings for each other aren't going away.
"Hey, what's got you thinking so hard?"
"Being human and messing up"
"Your biggest fears"
She pulled Sam closer and took a deep breath, "not anymore"
