"AHHHH!" A shriek erupted from downstairs.

"What happened? Who died? Mara dear are you ok?" Jerome Clarke shouted, rushing down the stairs. He was just getting started on an article for work, the subject being "Fears", which Jerome found awfully odd. Why would somebody want to read about people's fears, other than a psychologist?

"Jerome, help me!" Mara yelped.

"Coming love!" He yelled back, grabbing the nearest weapon, which happened to be an umbrella. "What happened!" He looked around the living room, but there was no trace of a kidnapper, murderer, or psychopath. He looked over to his girlfriend who was trembling, pointing to the floor, with questioning eyes.

"Sp-sp-spider!" She spat out.

Jerome stared with wondrous eyes, before he burst out laughing. "Mara Jaffray…afraid of spiders? Priceless." He cried, wiping his eyes with his fingers. She glared at him coldly. "And the Ice Queen is back." He smirked. Getting on Mara's nerves was sort of a hobby to him.

"Jerome I'm serious! Please kill it!" She seemed as if she would burst into tears any minute. Jerome of course could not let that happen. "Alright alright." He peered down to get a better look at the spider. "Ahh!" he yelped at the sight of it. It was a light brown arachnid, with six incredibly long legs sprouting from it, three on both sides. Its eight eyes scanned him, identifying its next victim. He quickly recognized it as a Daddy Long Legs (A/N I'm not really sure what a Daddy Long Legs looks like. I've never really examined one up close.)He looked over to Mara, and she was laughing uncontrollably. "Jerome Clarke…afraid of spiders? Priceless." She mimicked his previous reaction.

"Mara it's moving!" He eyed the insect in motion over Mara's shoulder, its legs moving painfully slow.

"Well if you aren't going to get rid of it, and I'm not going to get rid of it, then who is?" She took another glance at the creepy, crawling creature. "I don't care as long as you get it out of this house!" Jerome ran into the kitchen, taking cover under the counter. Mara giggled at her boyfriend's childish behavior, but then realized how close the bug was to her, and ran to Jerome's "refuge".

Line Break

"Ok. We need a plan." Mara stated. They had hidden under the counter for another hour, and luckily the spider didn't enter the kitchen yet, but it was on its way. "I suggest we hide out here until Mother Nature decides it is time for the spider to die and move on from this life." She looked to him with raised eyebrows, and an amused smile playing on her lips. "Or," she started, "Or, we could do this Jaffray." He said pressing a kiss to her lip. Mara willingly complied, as she got lost in the kiss. Only Jerome Clarke could do this to her. They were so caught up in each other, they almost forgot about the spider crawling about. Almost. They broke the kiss and looked around the floor to find the spider a mere three feet away from them. Their eyes widened and they froze in panic. "I-I'll call Eddie." Mara squeaked out. "Yeah good idea."

(Later the night)

"You know what Mara?" Jerome asked.

"What?" She questioned.

"They say a couple that hides from spiders together, loves forever." He responded simply.

"They don't say that."

"I know, I just needed an excuse to kiss you." He said sheepishly. Mara giggled leaning in already. The couple was so involved in their own love; they didn't realize the spider right above their headboard.
