It had been a long day, way too long, in Bella's opinion. Five hours of school, three new projects and two lots of homework could make anyone tired, but when you added a vampire boyfriend and his highly energetic sister to the already exhaustion worthy mix your days seem to exhaust you, both mentally and physically. Bella just wanted to sleep. But she should have known by now that she never gets everything, or sometimes anything, that she wants.
It was 4:00 in the afternoon when Bella slowly trudged into her room and dumped her bag on the floor. The car ride home had been hell, Edward refused to drive slower even when she insisted that she was getting whiplash, and she was happy to be home. She slowly shuffled over to her desk and flopped down into the chair, where she proceeded to check her e-mail. Ten minutes later she had replied to Renee's e-mail and was making her way to the shower.
Bella opened the door to the laundry and collected her towel off the clothes horse before proceeding to the bathroom. Bella then reached behind the ocean blue shower curtain, that did little to improve the décor of the puke green room, and started to adjust the taps to the right temperature, when she suddenly froze. It was moving, staring at her with those horrible, evil yellow-green eyes, eyes that some people deemed innocent and almost trustworthy, but Bella knew the truth they were eyes filled with anger and dark thoughts. It moved again its long, hairy legs moving slowly but confidently, as if it were calculating every step. It was closer now, close enough for Bella to touch, she wondered when it would make that final move, the move that she both dreaded and anticipated. It jumped at her. Bella's loud scream shattered the silence,
"DAD THERE'S A SPIDER ON ME!"
