Following the tradition of writing using slang from the Victorian era.
May evolve into a series of drabbles.
'Come, Holmes, you should get some sleep.'
'My dear fellow, I shall, but on my chair since my bed is entirely destroyed.'
I was struck with a brief moment of admiration for my friend and his calm demeanour given the burning of his bedroom earlier in the day. I was still feeling on edge at how close our flat came to being burnt out completely, the attempt on our lives still alarming me.
'Holmes, pig in with me.'*
I watched my friend steeple his fingers under his chin, thinking.
'What sort of sleeper are you?'
'Quiet, I assure you.'
'Very well then,' he stands, 'though any disturbances and I will banish you to the chair!'
*To pig together: To share a bed platonically with someone, in Victorian slang.
