From Beginning to End

This was an assignment in which we were told to take five lines from a book and blend them with our own lines to make a poem. This is my final draft of the project and I've bolded the original lines from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's original work from the tales of his most famous protagonist Sherlock Holmes.

His ignorance was as remarkable as his knowledge

His ineptitude as precious as his grace

My mind rebels at stagnation

Yet rejoices in simplicity

As well as explanation

He tells me his story like an incredible myth of ages

The plot thickens

And his end is written out, like a cliffhanger printed on pages

I have done all that man can do to reach the heart of mystery

I've followed and studied the ways of utmost trickery

However, one impossible secret still stands

I still do not know

Where was the shadow

Of Sebastian Moran?
