The REAL Reason They Took That Scene

The REAL Reason They Cut That Scene From "Mousetrap"

By Trisana McGraw

I'm sure all you ReBoot fans out there (or a lot of you, anyway) have been watching ReBoot since it first began on ABC and have seen everything in all the seasons.

But there are some `Booters (myself included) who missed one important scene: the first party scene on the Saucy Mare in "Mousetrap", including the toasts.

Now, I've always wondered about why the scene got cut. After pondering it day and night, I've thought of a few reasons. One could call them . . . conspiracy theories.

Here they are - and bear in mind, they can all be true:

  1. Mouse's Decision
  2. In Mouse's debut, "The Great Brain Robbery", there is a part when Bob tells her the truth of what Megabyte is doing to Enzo's body. Mouse switches on the intercom to Megabyte and says sweetly, "Megabyte? What's this Ah hear about a power surge and toastin' a little kid? Yah know Ah don't do toast."

Don't do toast, eh? I bet that when the people at MFE were making "Mousetrap", Mouse came up and told them that there would be no toast in that episode. And they listened.

Verdict: Sure, I know she meant bread/toast, and they meant drinking/toast, but it could happen!

  3. BSnP Catches Up
  4. Picture this: the producers and writers and directors of ReBoot and whoever else helps make it, all sitting down at a table after a visit from the BSnP's, who have told them they have to cut the scene from "Mousetrap".

Well, now picture Gavin Blair or somebody saying, "They're right. We can't put that scene in of all the pirates getting drunk and doing the hula and throwing up `cause it would be bad for our 7-and-above audience, although the toasts were really good; and anyway, it's not like we did a scene just like that a couple episodes back, where Matrix went in the bar of drunk binomes and shot the place up. Okay, cut the scene."

Verdict: They did it once, why can't they do it again?

  5. The Simple Solution

You've been hearing all these weird, complicated ideas I bet that this one will surprise you.

No skit, no humor, it could just be the simplest solution to the problem:

Verdict: Maybe they didn't have enough time to run the scene when it was on Cartoon Network, between the rest of the episode and commercial time.

So, you see, there are many reasons (maybe more than I listed) for why that scene was cut from "Mousetrap". Why do I write this, you ask? It's because I have too much free time. So there.
