The Molly Weasley Vignettes – Otherwise Untitled
Introduction
She had spent the last three days cleaning the Burrow: she had degnomed the garden herself (though she had already seen a few sneak back across the fence to re-inhabit their holes), scrubbed the kitchen twice, and made Arthur trim the now large and overgrown Flutterby bushes. As she stood in the doorway looking at the progress Arthur had made in the garden, she noticed a long, deep gash in the wood that made up the door frame. As she ran her hand over the incision her heart grew heavy thinking about that fateful August day; about how her home had been invaded and how a couple's life together had started on a note of fear and terror. Nothing would remove that mark; the dark magic that had caused it was not something that could be scrubbed away.
Perhaps sensing her deepening mood or perhaps because he was tired of tidying the garden, Arthur walked over from his place by the broomshed, "Mollywobbles? Dear, I think we should go clean up, everyone will be here soon."
Molly smiled and pushed a tendril of her red and grey speckled hair out of her face and flicked a speck of dirt off of her worn flowered apron. "I suppose you are right Arthur. Once we have a full house I doubt if there will be a moment where the bathroom isn't occupied." As he passed through the doorway beside her, Arthur gave his wife a kiss on the top of her head and patted her on the bottom. Molly couldn't help but grin at her husband's cheekiness as she watched his back disappear up the stairs. Turning back to the garden she smiled as the Flutterby bushes shook in the afternoon sun; soon the garden would be filled with happy laughter and the constant hum of friendly chatter and the image of that long ago August day would almost be erased from memory.
Author's Note: I want to do a nexgen fanfic but I'm not sure who I want to focus on so I decided to explore an idea I had earlier. This will be a collection of one shots of Molly interacting with each of her grandchildren the day before they head off to Hogwarts for the first time. Hopefully I can hash out the characters and decide who I am interested in writing more about.
