I Believe In You Always
By Himig
Summary: SII Poem – The Bright Shield Rune and the Black Sword Rune are brothers. From True Runes, they were runes that fought once separated. Their reason was pride, but two young men's reason was a dream they built. How far will dreams destroy the past?
Author's Notes: Originally, I intended for a poem for the story of Suikoden V centering about the prince and his family. Instead, I did a Suikoden II. I may plan to do a Suikoden V poem like this one too. To be honest, I didn't expect it to be like this. I just didn't want it to rhyme and see what happens. I tried using repetitions (I actually learned something in our Reading subject!) and well, it became the basic style XD Read and review!
Disclaimer: Do not own Suikoden. This poem is mine.
Warning: Spoilers for S2, though not directly implied. It's not a story poem, but it's a reflection of Riou and Jowy's relationship as friends. Let this be a guide as you read this poem.
I Believe In You Always
Brothers are not by blood or by flesh
Blood or flesh from which they came
Brothers by blood or flesh matter little
Because even blood and flesh can separate
From its own blood and flesh with a word
As he said, "You are no longer my brother"
-
But brothers are not by blood or by flesh
Bound between brothers is great friendship
Friendship joint in innocent hopes and dreams
Hopes and dreams with joint arms in friendship
A shared future promises a promising shared fate
But brothers not by blood or by flesh still separate
-
Brothers are companions in the trials of fate
The trials of fate are witnesses to the brothers
Separated brothers are two men of two fates
Two fates are two witnesses of two men – not brothers
But separated brothers are stars that are brothers
Stars that are brothers are brothers of one fate
-
Brothers even at death promise to meet again
To meet again was a promise of a great trial
The great trial of fate witnessed how brothers,
Brothers that are not by blood or by flesh,
Had one dream and fate, chose life and death
Companions in the trials of fate, separated
-
Brothers are together for what they believe
"Believe in me," brothers say in their heart
But in their heart blooms the weakest spot
A spot weakest when brothers are separated
Brothers who are not by blood or by flesh,
Become unrelated when they are separated
-
Brothers are not by blood or by flesh
By blood or by flesh cannot do the heart
The heart is what makes two men brothers
Brothers are only brothers by heart
But when the hearts of brothers change
Change separates the hearts, the brothers
-
Brothers have one dream and one fate
One dream and one fate remain unchanged
Unchanged are the past brothers remember
Remembering the unchanged past heals the heart
Healing the separated hearts needs two men
Two men who were separated, who were brothers
-
Brothers are not by blood or by flesh
Blood or flesh from which they came
Brothers are truly only so by heart
But even brothers by heart separate
Yet they were brothers who remember
As he said, "I believe in you always"
