Katara's mom always told her she was special.

Of course, that's what all parents tell their children, that's what they all believe. But something about this mother's words was different.

"You're going to change the world one day," she would say as she weaved Katara's long, dark hair into a braid. At the time, the child thought nothing of it – she was five and her tiny village was the only world she knew.

Years later, the prediction was forgotten and she remembered her mother only by feelings – happiness, security, comfort. The men of their tribe left, food was scarce, and everyone lived in fear of Fire Nation raids.

Then, on a day like any other, her temper and her bending found Aang's iceberg. As she stared up at his still, frozen form her mother's words returned.

"You're going to change the world one day."

Somehow, she knew her mother had been right.

Author's Notes: I decided to try writing character centric stories, since I always do shipping ones. xD Sorry if it's kinda crappy.

Disclaimer: I do not own 'Avatar' or any of its characters.
