"That's me inside your head."

Peyton looked up at him, it really was him inside her head. She could see the way his eyes sercached as if looking for secrets hidden deep inside. Then she remembered, Nathan, her boyfriend. She took out her phone and dialed his number. She could see Lucas watching her out of the corner of her eye, it made her stomach flip the way he watched her.

Nathan said he would pick her up, but she knew he wouldn't, Lucas handed her the paperwork.

"Do you need a ride?"

She wanted to say, "I'll go anywhere with you." but she knew she couldn't. So instead she went with, "No, Nathan's picking me up." She could tell his face fell a bit, and how badly she wanted to climb into that truck next to him.

"I'll wait with you if you want."

She looking into his eyes, "I think we both know that's not a good idea.." He shrugged and turned to his truck but before he got in he turned in her direction.

"We both know he's not going to show, Peyton, so will you just let me drive you into town?"

She gave him a sad, small smile. "Yeah, I guess." He opened the door for her and she clambered in. They were silent for the first couple of minutes then he spoke up.

"He's not good enough for you, Peyton, and I know you know that so why do you stay with him?"

She stared at him, shock clearly shown on her face. "What makes you thinjk you know so much about me?"

"I don't know, because I do." He replied with a shrug. She just looked at him with wonder.

"Pull over, Lucas."

He gave her a look then pulled over to the side of the road. She reached for the handle, "Why couldn't you just leave it alone?" She asked exasperated and clearly irritated. She opened the door but before she could climb down he grabbed her arm and pulled her close to him. His hand grazed the side of her cheek and he slowly bought his face to hers and before either of them knew it their lips collided. Each one desperately needing the other.

Lucas woke up and turned to his side watching Lindsey as she slept next to him. The memory of his and Peyton's first kiss playing in his mind. He remembered everything about that day; how her blonde hair sparkled in the sun, how green her eyes looked and how perfect her lips felt against his. How the hell did we end up like this? He thought silently to himself. He lifted his body from bed and wandered into the kitchen. He poured himself a glass of water and stared out the window. Her face was all he saw, and deep inside all he wanted was for her to come back home.

Peyton sat on the bench by her window overlooking the busy city of L.A. She picked up the phone and dialed Brooke's number.

"What's up, P. Sawyer?" Peyton smiled at the sound of her best friends voice.

"I want to go home, Brooke, but I can't go back alone."

"Let's go then, and this better be your attempt to get Lucas back." Brooke said with a serious undertone. Peyton laughed.

"Of course it is, I can't do it without him, Brooke."

"I know, buddy, I was just waiting for you to realize it."

"I always knew…"

Haley's cell started ringing, grumbling from being awaken from a deep sleep she fumbled for it. "Brooke, it is after midnight, this better be freaking good."

"I know Haley, and I'm sorry but Peyton and I just landed, we are moving back!"

Haley sat up wide awake and excited, "Oh my god! Do you need me to come get you?"

"Yes, of course! Get your ass over here!"

Haley hung up the phone and jumped out of bed throwing on some jeans and a t-shirt. Nathan stirred and looked up sleepy eyed. "Who was that?"

"Uh, it was Brooke and Peyton, they are moving back to Tree Hill and need a ride from the airport."

"Huh. About time she came back for Luke."

Haley smiled and kissed her husband, "Yeah, I know."
