Aang was happy.

Or, as happy as he could be with a scarred and nasty world at his heels.

There were a lot of good things in his life. He had a good and loving wife, four strong children, and sometimes he could even stay home three days straight, He thanked the spirits for that everyday.

But there was a time that even having such a strong and beautiful woman wasn't enough to calm the burning jealousy in his heart.

It had started the day he watched them spar together. Or at least, that's when his insecurities started. Then, only three weeks later, she left him standing on that wind swept balcony where they had kissed so fervently. He was just sixteen.

It had been hard at first, to watch her walk away from in him in tears, straight into the arms of the scarred boy, had had been his friend. He watched her give him that smile she had always reserved for him.

For awhile, he was reserved, standing in the corners and watching the view.

Then. One fateful autumn day, he saw the glint in theirs eyes when the soft breeze snaked by, a shine the Water Tribe girl and the avatar had once shared themselves. It was a happy, lovely glint. And it drove him crazy.

It was then that he traveled as far and quickly away as possible, losing himself as the avatar. He looked back once, but only saw her clutching his hands, never noticing the sad stares of his friends.

The sun was shrouded by gray clouds when he stopped running. He had been in Kiyoshi Island, funnily enough, and the smell of the crystal tide reminded him of someone. But he couldn't remember who.

He had forgotten the first girl to ever break his heart.

It was then, when the strong but slender man hit the twenty years old mark, that he embraced himself and his friends. He remembered the world outside of jealousy and love, the world of sarcasm and name-calling, laughs and giggles, and the world of nothing but solid friendship.

Years later, he fell in love for the second time, but this time he was wiser.

This time, she didn't walk away.

It no longer bothered him to see the blue eyed fire nation Princesses play with his gray eyed young, and it hadn't bothered him in a long time.

He had been an innocent boy waking up to cold and devastated world, she had been the first pretty girl he saw before his childhood was taken from him, and she was his only hold to that life he never had a chance to live.

But eventually, they both had to grow up.

And now, Aang was happy.
