A narrator's job is to tell a good story and I'm no good at that. If I had the choice I would like to throw down my imaginary microphone and cry, "I QUIT!" and run out the hypothetical room like a maniac. However the author will have an incredible fit and there's also something else...
Amu Hinamori still remembered her mother telling her about the call she got when Amu was still in school. Apparently, Ami, Amu's cousin who had successfully gotten a supporting role in a drama called Shugo Chara! had suggested Amu to play the main girl role.
That little tyke, Amu thought. Amu had never even SEEN Ami before but only heard that her uncle sends long bragging emails about her to Amu's mother. She didn't even have a hint on what Ami looked like. Amu, however, did hear that Ami had great ambition to become an actress even though she was only 5 and was auditioning as much as possible. Her family was in complete support and in fact was joining the movie set.
"There's no way I'm doing it," Amu said bluntly. It was way too troublesome. It was probably going to flop like all of other Ami's gigs. In addition, the drama was rather low budget so it actually didn't have a lot of money to hire exceptional actors and actresses so they were picking out pretty much anyone who was willing to do it dirt cheap. Her mother tossed her long bubblegum colored hair that Amu inherited aside and shrugged.
"I already told them you were doing it. Amu, you need to get out of the house more often." Amu frowned.
"I have to go to school everyday. Isn't that something? Isn't that often?"
"Amu...Ami's family had helped us a lot when we were in our tough times. It looks like the director will look at Ami in good light if we help them out. You didn't like school and it seems like you'll be skipping some. It also looks like I'll be busy and Ami's parents are willing to drive you home everyday. If it makes you feel any better, it 'looks like no one's first names are going to be changed so that it'll be easier to call people and have a natural reaction. In this case, your last name doesn't need to be changed either since Ami is a Hinamori as well." Amu sighed. She knew she wasn't going to win this. When did she ever really win against her mother? Also, if she gets to skip some school days, it might be better after all. It's not like the school would notice or there's anyone who would miss her.
"What do I do?" Her mother took out a piece of notebook paper and pulled out a pair of reading glasses
"It sounds like you'll be playing Ami's sister as I hinted before and you'll have this thing called...ch-charas? What the hell? And you'll have a crush in this boy and as an elementary school student you'll be trying to find your true self-"
"Wait a second, Mom!" Amu waved her hand frantically. "This drama sounds really cheesy! There's no way I'll like it! Also, doesn't Auntie and Uncle have brown hair? So Ami will have brown hair too! Last time I checked, my color isn't close to that. AND I'll be playing as an elementary school student? Are you crazy? I'm 17! There's no way even the director will be okay with this. No way, no, nope it's not going to happen-"
"SHE'S PERFECT!" The director was a jolly man when he set his eyes on Amu. He had an enormous grin.
Shit. What has she gotten into?
Amu realized that after 365 days with the set who became her true family, she actually knew exactly what she had gotten into. She became Ami's sister, she had something called charas, she had a crush on a boy, and was searching for her true self.
During the time that Amu was with them, she realized that the world was so much bigger, so much more beautiful and caring than she would have otherwise never known.
Amu was ready to take the next step forward.
The End.
I wish. Too bad not everything ends with a happily ever after.
