Disclaimer: I obviously do not own the Twilight Series. Why else would I be out here?

Frankly, I wrote this story three years ago and it has sat in my notebook ever since. I wrote this back when Twilight was just starting to annoy me, when I first started noticing how it wasn't the best book in the world (everyone gasps and the author ducks for cover) and that the writing was rather...atrocious.

I'm over it if you hate it; this story is just my way of finally inching my way onto FFnet. I purposely tried to imitate Mrs. Meyer's dramatic style (no offence intended). So if you're not quite sure if you hate anything and everything involved with the series (not quiet sure why you're reading this but I've got no issues!), or are an obsessed fangirl, go ahead- read and review. I just really hope you're all mature enough not to flame me for poking fun at this series, though I suspect that's a little too much to ask.

So, without further ado, on with the story…

Desperate and Vying

I groaned and gasped for breath, desperately trying to get air into my aching lungs. I knew I wasn't going to last for much long unless they did something! My body was absolutely exhausted and deprived of energy. All that was left was quickly fleeing. I was in a race for my life, struggling to keep going.

I summoned enough strength to take my attention away from the pain and glance to my left. "Please," I rasped brokenly. Anything to end this suffering!

"No. Forget it Bella, it's not funny," he said flatly.

"But Edward…" I protested weakly. I couldn't understand how he was still so stubborn on leaving me human, even when I was clearly dying.

"No, you'll be fine!" He sounded like he was trying to convince himself.

"Please...it hurts," I whimpered. I thought I saw a flicker of uncertainty pass through his eyes, but it was quickly replaced by determination.

"You're staying human, Bella!" he said quietly.

A wave of dizziness passed over me; I moaned in pain and saw real fear pass across his face.

"Bella?" he finally sounded worried.

I didn't answer, concentrating on holding on to consciousness. If he would just make up his mind!

"Love?" He was on the verge of panic. Now I had him!

"Really, Bella?" A familiar voice trilled near my elbow, "I think your scaring Edward back to death, if that's even possible. Besides, it's only running!"

I shot a death glare at Alice, not appreciating her humor. They were impossible!

"Says the immortal who doesn't need oxygen and has unlimited energy." I muttered under my breath.

"Nice try, I think you had him for a minute." Alice said chirpily. My only response was to gasp for breath. Stupid athletic vampires!

"Alice, are you sure she's all right? Listen to her heart!" Edward's voice was still worried.

"She's fine, Eddie! Gee, you sure do overreact," Alice rolled her eyes. Edward growled at the nickname, but quickly cut off in a snort.

"Since Newton over here is lollygagging and tying his shoes," Coach Clapp bellowed, grinning at the sweaty high schoolers running around him, "You're all running for another two minutes!"

Groans echoed around the gym.

"Edward," I gasped.

"Yes, love?"

"Change me," I moaned, "And kill Mike while you're at it!"
