CH. 1 A LIFE OF WAITING
The Sandlot is now home to the Gulan brothers, Tommy, Vander, Alex, and Mark. They have homerun contests everyday for 3 hours.
Vander the oldest one, who is 14, has been waiting for the perfect girl. One who could play baseball and one who could also make everything romantic.
Vander has been waiting for a year until now…
Vander was getting ready to follow his brothers out the door to the sandlot when his mother said, "Hold on I want you to go take the new neighbor's girl around town."
Vander couldn't say no, being the first to be friend the girl would be a good advantage. Could his wait be over?
Vander headed over to the neighbor's and knocked on the door. A beautiful blonde haired, long legged, tan, girl came to the door.
"Hello you must be Vander, I'm Alli."
"Uh…uh…I'm V-Vander." he stalled.
As they were walking Vander found out a few things, 1 was that Alli was 14 also, 2 was that she was awesome at baseball, and 3 was that Vander was just her type.
When they neared the sandlot Vander just knew that she was flirting with him.
CH. 2 GIRLS AND BASEBALL
Vander's brothers were already sending baseballs over the fence.
"Can I try?" asked Alli.
"Sure." said Tommy, handing Alli the bat.
"I'm Alli by the way."
"Oh", said Vander, "This is Tommy, Alex, and Mark."
They all said hi right before Alli sent a pitch from Tommy clear over the fence. All the boys were amazed so they celebrated for their new recruit by going out to the county fair. And that's when Vander became a man…
CH. MAN OF HOMERS AND GIRLS
On the hang glider, Vander and Alli were always partners to ride together, the pharaoh's boat ride they sat together on.
The night was getting darker and Tommy said, "Mom said we all have to be home by 10."
Tommy, Alex, and Mark all went on the hang glider because you could have three to a glider. Vander and Alli decided to go on the Ferris wheel.
"This is it", Vander said to himself, "I'm gonna do it."
Like he planed, Vander and Alli got stuck at the top. So they talked a little,
"Nice up here, isn't it?" Vander said.
"Yeah, and thanks for taking me around town."
"Oh no problem."
Then it happened, they leaned in. Alli put here hand on his and they kissed long. When they finally let go, they were nearing the bottom.
"That was great." said Alli.
"C'mon Alli, it was just a ride." said Mark.
"Yeah, just a ride." said Alli and Vander at the same time.
The rest of they boys gave them both a look that meant, you kissed didn't you. Alli and Vander laughed. The were walking home, Mark, Tommy, and Alex an in the house while Alli and Vander stayed out a little while.
They said their goodnights as they walked back into their houses.
CH. 4 GOODBYE
At the field the next day. Alli came late. She wasn't in her normal baseball clothes. She was in clothes that looked comfortable, like ones you would wear when you're going to travel and you want to feel comfortable.
"Where are you going?" asked Vander.
"I have to leave, my dad got another job." said Alli.
"So I guess it's a goodbye then."
"Goodbye." Alli said kissing him again.
Vander heard his brothers making fun so he had no choice. He kissed her back.
A few weeks later Vander got a letter from Alli.
It said,
Dear Vander,
What's up? How's your homerun game goin? I'm fine up here but its lonely without you and the guys. I was thinkin about our kiss. It was great, I think we have something goin on now!
