Advice

Disclaimer: Filia and Xelloss are not mine. If they were, they would have gotten together already. Mousie is also not mine, she belongs to herself because she is a real person. Asteria is, of course, me.

Author's Note: Most of what I know about Filia and Xelloss comes from fanfiction, as I am relatively new to Slayers. I apologize for any OOC-ness.

A forest clearing. Filia sits on a conveniently placed tree stump. Her back is to us. Beside her, seated on an equally conveniently placed rock, is Asteria, a thoroughly unimpressive girl with long brown hair, wearing jeans, a t-shirt and a brown leather jacket. Neither of them notices when Xelloss materializes behind them, because he is taking pains to hide his presence. (A/N: I apologize for the way I'm writing, I just saw an Oscar Wilde play so I still have flowery language on the brain.) He creeps closer trying to hear what Filia and Asteria are saying.

Filia: ...So what should I do?

Xelloss curses silently for having missed the beginning of the conversation. He has no idea what Filia is talking about.

Asteria: My advice? Carpe diem.

Filia: What?

Asteria: Carpe diem.

Filia: But what does that mean?

Asteria: I'll put it to you this way: This...guy. You like him.

Filia: Yes.

Asteria: A lot.

Filia: Yes.

Asteria: Maybe even...love him.

Filia: (blushing) Yes.

Asteria: So how will he know if you don't tell him?

Filia: TELL him?!?

Asteria: Not literally. But you have to let him know. It's either let him know or go your whole life wondering what if?

Filia: But what if he doesn't...feel the same way?

Asteria: Take the risk. Carpe diem.

Filia: I still don't know what that means.

Asteria: It's Latin. It means seize the day.

Mousie: (just having read what I wrote) Says Asteria, who hasn't made a move yet for the guy she's into.

Asteria: Yes I have. You just haven't been paying attention. I've been subtle.

Mousie: Yeah, sure Asteria.

Asteria: This is not the time, Mousie. You and I will talk tomorrow.

Mousie: Okay...Bye.

Mousie leaves.

Asteria: Sorry about that, Filia. So where were we?

Filia: Seize the day.

Asteria: Ah, yes. That's what you have to do. Let him know. Take the risk. Carpe diem.

Filia: I'm not so sure about your advice, Asteria. What Mousie said...

Asteria: Ignore Mousie. You asked my advice, not hers. My advice is seize the day.

Xelloss: So, Filia-chan, whose day are you trying to seize?

Filia and Asteria both jump up and turn around in surprise. Remember, they hadn't known that Xelloss was there. Filia looks quite embarrassed, but is managing not to blush. Xelloss just smiles at her, enjoying her discomfort.

Asteria: (in a stage whisper) Carpe diem.

Filia's face takes on a determined expression. She leans forward and kisses Xelloss, who is very surprised at this development, but not entirely displeased. He starts to respond to the kiss.

Asteria: Looks like my work here is done.

Asteria leaves. Xelloss and Filia are still kissing.

Fade to black before the rating changes.
