Tears
His footsteps retreated, leaving her to lie there in silence. She took shallow breaths; it hurt too much for anything more strenuous. A glance to the door and the floodgates opened. She'd only managed to keep the waterworks at bay because she was so furious with him.
"Why me?" she sniffled to herself as the tears slithered down her cheeks.
Was this what she deserved for dating a geek? It didn't seem fair that she should suffer more than him. She'd been the loyal one despite her misgivings. Still, she would cry herself to sleep over him that night.
