She'd made a point of avoiding the game when it first came out: quite aside from it being a MMO - a genre of games she generally despised - it had involved aliens, and that particular gaming subject had been spoiled for her a very long time ago. But enough of her college friends had recommended Prometheus that she'd finally given it a try - the fact her brother wouldn't be around to kibitz, being off in California trying to prove that aliens had been responsible for the fact that Sunnydale had fallen into a giant sinkhole, didn't hurt - and she'd discovered (somewhat to her chagrin) that the game was remarkably well-done, with excellent - almost realistic - gameplay and an engrossing plot.
Of course, given her well-honed gaming skills, even the challenge Prometheus provided didn't promise to last very long, but it would certainly be enjoyable while it lasted. The one major flaw she'd found was in the "Dakara Weapons Puzzle" - the game reset each time she solved it (it hadn't been that hard to solve, really); obviously there was some sort of bug in the system, and she'd sent in a report on the bug through email. She'd heard the developers were responsive; perhaps, she thought, 24 hours was enough time for it to have been fixed.
Of course, she thought with a grimace, checking that would require actually being able to get into the game without interruption. And with that she seemed to be cursed: the doorbell's chime was the third thing this morning keeping her from getting into the game (the first being her brother's daily phone call - "no aliens - yet" - and the second some crank from Cleveland who had - obviously - been calling for him.)
Yes, Gaz thought as she headed to answer the door, clenching one fist in preparation, whoever was interrupting her gaming this time would pay.
