Do not Go Gentle into That Good Night
A/N: I know I told everyone that I wouldn't update until the 28th but after watching the Last Dance, I just had to get this off my chest. This is one of my favorite poems so I thought it went perfectly with the episode. I was inspired by Pretty Lil Vampire. Her story, Moments Before Death, is AWESOME! You should definitely check it out!
Disclaimer: I do not own TVD or the poem, do not go gentle. That right is reserved to the CW, Dylan Thomas. Basically, I own nothing!
Do not go gentle into that good night
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light
Bonnie walked down the corridor leading to the cafeteria. Her footsteps echoed in the silent hallway, a silent requiem just for her. She knew what lay ahead, a one way road that had no return. Was she afraid? Of course she was. There will be no more dances, no more smiles, no more existing as Bonnie Bennett.
As she told Jeremy, there was a reason why she was born a witch, more importantly a Bennett witch. Getting closer to her demise, the power in her grew to encase her in warmth, easing her fears. It was needed to be done, something only she could do. It was her destiny, her reason for being.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gently into that good night
Bonnie would've thought her last thoughts would've been about Jeremy, possibly Elena or Caroline but they were of him. Of all the people, she thought of Damon Salvatore. Maybe it was the compassion he showed her on the dance floor. Maybe it was the way he looked at her when he pleaded for her to come up with another way. But she knew he would only love Elena.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight,
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light
Klaus stood there as if he was waiting for her, signaling the start of their epic battle. Bright lights flashed, blood flowed freely, and her life force faded with each use of her magic. Elena and Stefan's screams were drowned out by the hemorrhaging of her blood.
Still through the pain, Bonnie endured with all her might, fighting the monster called Klaus. With one last burst of power, Klaus fell to the floor, screaming in agony. As Bonnie collapsed after him, she thought about the one person she'd never expect to think about. His piercing blue eyes and cocky smirk was the last thing she pictured before her world faded into the abyss and Bonnie Bennett existed no more.
And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
I'm crying! That scene made me bawl like a baby. How dare you TVD do that to me, playing with my emotions! Would love to know you think of my little one shot.
