Ron was holding himself over the bathroom sink. He wanted to call for Harry but the words wouldn t come out. It was early in the morning and Ron knew he was in for a rough day. He d been sick since the early hours,
he still didn t know how he d tell Him. Ron opened the door to see a worried looking Harry standing right outside. Ron looked paler than usual, his face looked sunken in. He looked a lot skinnier since the beggining of the month. There was a creak from outside the door.
I heard you from downstairs. said Harry in an almost angry, yet worried tone.
heard what? said Ron, with his head still over the sink. you know what! Harry stopped, and looked straight at Ron.
Harry, I m fine mate, seriously! Ron almost immediately looked down at his feet. I ve told lies to protect people before you know, Ron! Tell me the truth, seriously! You ve been sick like this for weeks.. Harry s voice had started to tremble. Ron looked at him. He had no choice. He had to tell him. Harry, I m ill. Well urm, I can see that, you ve been sick all morning.. Harry looked confused. Why was his best friend acting so strangly? No, you don t get it. Ron looked blankly back at at him.
Explain to me then Ron? I thought we were best friends? You re 19 now, surely you can trust me? Ron once again looked at Harry. His facial expression was yet to change. All of the thoughts going through his head at this moment - Will Harry stay by his side? Will he even understand? Ron took a deep breath..
You ve lived in the muggle world for over 11 years haven t you harry? You ve got healers haven t you? well, they re called doctors, but yeah, we have them.. Yeah, well in the Wizarding world we can do things these doctor people can t, you know that. Harry looked lost once again. Why was Ron saying all of this? Ron carried on.
Well, in the muggle world you ve got diseases you can t cure. It s the same in the wizarding world. There s a potion for almost everything, but some things just can t be cured. Harry had never seen Ron in a state like this before. He could see Ron s pale blue eyes holding back tears.
Ron, what are you on about? You re not making any sense, you re starting to worry me.. Harry s voice trailed off. I have a disease Harry. The muggles call it cancer . You ve probably heard of it. I found out last month. Harry s face went blank. The words that Ron had just said were going around and around in his head. Before he knew it Harry could feel warm tears streaming down his very own face. Harry, don t cry mate. It wont help. I m alright at the moment aren t I? Ron Looked straight at him. Harry swallowed the lump in his throat. With slight hesitation, he reached up to Rons face. He gently wiped away his tears with his sleeve. Ron slowly but surely did the same.
Please don t leave me behind Harry. Ron started to cry and slowly sank to the floor.
After the 6 years they d been friends Harry had never seen Ron cry, he didn t know what to do. Should he pat him on the back? Or should he hug him..?
Ron, you re my best friend. I m not going to leave you behind.. You mean everything to me He d said too much. Harry stopped speaking almost immediatley. Ron looked at him for what seemed like hours. He then continued to speak as if nothing had happened. You promise me? I mean, I m going to get worse. I ll get skinnier, I ll get more pale, I ll get weaker- Ron you mean everything to me. I m never leaving you.. I love you. Harry started to blush. He slowly made his way over to Ron who was still on the bathroom floor and sat down. He then put his arm around him. Ron still had tears running down his pale cheeks. Harry wiped them away, and moved his face closer to his. with no hesitation Ron started to kiss Harry. When they pulled away from each other they just stayed sitting in the bathroom, cuddled up together.
