The crowd sat silent, tense, waiting for the boy wizard who wasn't even supposed to be in this tournament grab the egg of one of the fiercest dragons in the world. The crowd erupted in cheers for the Boy Who Lived that just triumphed once again over what could have been death. Harry had beaten the Hungarian Horntail in the first task of the TriWizard Tournament. Harry is carried off the field by the Hogwarts crowd crying, "Harry! Harry!" Little did he or any of his friends know there was little more than admiration in the air.
It's about four hours later; Harry and his friends plan to leave for dinner. Upset that the egg only let out a piercing shriek that lead them no closer to what the next task might be, Hermione had spent these last few hours searching the library for a clue.
"Maybe it could be a bird or something," suggested Ron, "to have shrieked like that."
"But I just went against a flying beast, they would do something different for the second task," argued Harry.
"Maybe you have to save a damsel in distress, Harry, shouldn't be too hard for you," joked Seamus.
"Oh, just shut up Seamus," Harry swatted at Seamus.
"Hello, boys," says Hermione, meeting them from her search at the library.
"Did you find anything?" asked Ron.
"Alas no, but I'll keep looking. We have to find something. I think I'll have to look at different section, maybe plants and magical trees," said Hermione.
"Maybe you'll go up against a tree this time Harry," guessed Dean Thomas.
"But I don't think a tree could scream like that," responded Harry, "In fact I don't think it's a pla-
"Hey, Harry," Luna interrupted, "could you come over here for a moment?"
"Uh, sure, I'll see you guys at supper," Harry waved goodbye to his friends. They eyed him, but soon continued their conversation about what could be the next task.
"Hi, um what's your name again? I know you're one of Ginny's friends. It's Lila or Lucy something, right?" guessed Harry.
"It's Luna, Luna Lovegood. Listen, I just wanted to say that you were really brave today and I couldn't have done anything like that. The nargles would've gotten me, but anyway I have faith in you Harry, you're going to win this," Luna told him.
"Well, gee, thanks Luna. I'm not that brave, I was really scared the whole time. But anyway, what's a nargle?" asked Harry.
"A nargle is that feeling you get when your brain gets all fuzzy, you know? And anyway, it doesn't matter that you were scared, it's that you did it that matters," Luna said.
"Aw thanks, but I'm not sure I deserve that much credit for it. It almost burned me to death. I'm just really really lucky, that's all," argued Harry.
"No, no, you have a lot of talent and skill, Harry, trust me," responded Luna.
As soon as she finished that sentence a chiming was heard throughout the castle.
"Oh my gosh!" exclaimed Harry, "that's the dinner bell; dinner's starting and we're going to be late!"
Luna and Harry started sprinting to the Great Hall. They rounded the corner and saw the doors closing.
"Harry, can I talk to you again sometime? It really was a delight," breathed Luna.
"Sure," panted Harry, "we can go to the Three Broomsticks next time we're in Hogsmeade."
"Yes, I'd think I'd like that. Thank you, Harry," said Luna as they rush into the room. Harry quickly slides into a seat next to Ron.
"What was that all about, Harry?" Ron asked curiously.
"You have no idea," Harry smiled as he bit into a drumstick.
