So I know I am strictly LDD (Leslie Doesn't Die) in my Bridge to Terabithia work, but this is one Bridge to Terabithia story (in this case, a poem) of mine that is actually based on what happened at the end of the book. I found this today, just rotting in my files…so I touched it up a little bit and, well, here it is. :)
So, anyway, I did my best. :) I think the poem's a little choppy, but I hope you all enjoy it. Read and review!
And one more thing for those of you wondering... Chapter 2 of "Flight or Fight" should be posted tomorrow. ;)
Please review and thank you for your time!
You Taught Me
OoOoO
Lessons I've learned in so little time
Are lessons that I hold so true
Lessons so worth the uphill climb
Are lessons that I've learned from you
OOO
How can I explain these thoughts
Now that you are gone for good?
How to say that what you've taught
Has registered as understood?
OOO
You taught me how to keep my head high
You taught me minds should always be open
You taught me death is never goodbye
You taught me love with words unspoken
OOO
Our kingdom was true, you ruled it well
You made creatures from normal objects
Behind those eyes, I never could tell
What story you'd come up with next
OOO
At school were you ever really afraid
Of the bullies and monsters jealous of you?
How did you stay in the world you made
And loyally teach me all you knew?
OOO
You taught me risks are things we must take
You taught me to be above the spite
You taught me that while ropes may break
The love lives on with fervent light
OOO
Why is it life can be so cruel?
Now whom can I cherish and trust?
How can God take a precious jewel
And leave behind a world full of rust?
OOO
Yet when I look up to the sky
And see the trees stir as though tossed
When I dream and see your eyes
I know your spirit is far from lost
OOO
You taught me how to be a king
You taught me to live without despair
And even though you've found your wings
You've taught me that you'll always be there
OoOoO
