-Part 1: Knowing-
The first time I found out Mei was pregnant; I ran out of our house, leapt into our garden and shouted for joy. "I'M A FATHER!" I kept on shouting. When I had enough, and I was pretty sure the world understood what I was saying, I went back to Mei, who was just sitting on our couch. There she was grinning at me and I knew that she was just as ecstatic about it as I was.
Looking at the small petite woman sitting in front of me, I begin to wonder how such a small body would be able to hold a heavy baby in her stomach. But I push that out of my mind, because I know full well how strong Mei is. I kneel in front of her and wrap my arms around her still small waist.
"I'm so thankful, Mei." I whisper.
"Al, you did this, too. I couldn't have done it without you." She says to me, as she strokes my head.
When I looked back up, she was still smiling at me, and I smiled back. Just then, Xiao May jumped to Mei's shoulder and she scratched the panda's stomach. "Guess what, Xiao Mei, we're going to have another family member!" The animal jumped in shock and (what looked like) grinned at both of us. We both laughed.
"Well, I guess we can't spar anymore Al." Mei said, who sounded a little disappointed.
"Yeah, I guess. I'm okay with that." I said as I sat down beside her.
"Are you sure, Al? You're going to be living with a fat and emotional lady for nine months." Mei giggled.
I laughed, "I guess I can manage." I wrapped my hand around her shoulder and she leaned her head on my shoulder, her long black hair lay on my arm like a silk cloth.
'Say, Al, its time for lunch. What do you want me to cook?" She asked
"No, don't cook." I said. She looked at me in slight disbelief. "I'll cook. What do you want? Name anything."
She looked up and placed her finger on her chin. "Hm, I guess I AM craving for one thing." She said. "What is it?"
"Waffles." She said firmly.
"Waffles? For lunch?" She looked at me, as if she was saying 'do I look like I'm kidding?' "Okay, waffles for lunch. You MUST know that I make waffles to die for, so get ready, Princess." I bow and head to the kitchen to make the waffles.
She blushes at the princess comment and giggles. "Well, Mister Alphonse, I'd better be very happy with these waffles, or I will just be very disappointed in you." She says as I grab the ingredients and start to incorporate them into a waffle batter.
She walks to the counter and watches me pour the batter into the waffle pan. "Don't worry, you won't be disappointed." I kiss her lightly on the lips and say "It's Al."
