I woke up drenched in sweat. It was like it had happened all over again. It had been eight years since she had died. Eight years since I had gone silent. Eight years since I lost her. And it was sometimes too much to bear. But little Mary kerpt me going, she looked exactly like Laurel, my older sister. She had died in the very first Hunger Games. And today there was a chance of losing Mary too. I heard a knock on my door. Tyler. Sometimes I hated him. He always would go on and on about how much he hated the system. Especially after Laurel was killed. My older sister was twelve wghen she was dragged in. Mary is an exact replica of her same hair, same eyes, same problem. Blindness. It apparently runs in the family but no one else has it. Not Tyler or Sarah or Natalie or the other 16 of us. My family is pretty big. But I was worried what if I lost Mary too. What if she was betrayed like Laurel. What if was all I could think of. But I was worried. About everything. About Mary and everyone but mostly Mac. What if he got pulled in I definitely couldn't live without him what was I supposed to do?

We walked out to the square. I saw my families restaurant Down by the Rivè. "Don't be scared," Mac whispered. "You'll be find and so will Mary." Mackson Abernathy was my boyfriend. One of the only people that kept me sane. And as I walked into the roped off circle for sixteen year olds sanity was everything I needed. " Welcome Everyone," Linda Maynard cried."And may the odds be ever in your favor." She pulled out a name. "Jack Peven," she said as a thin pencil kid walked down the row. I sighed. The Pevens were really nice. Oh well. Linda reached her hand and grabbed a name.

"Crystal Rivè." she said. Oh fudge.
