he finds himself believing her, even with all the pain.
disclaimer; i don't think i'd be writing fanfiction of it if i owned it.
a/n; i don't know how to feel about this.
she told him, magic soothes the pain.
he leaned back, looking at the ceiling but not seeing it. he breathed in and out, trying to calm himself. he'd shot up in the middle of the night, dreams of the people whose deaths he caused haunting him. harry was used to death, in a way, but he wasn't all at the same time. he raised his wand, cluched in his hand like a lifesaver, and said hoarsely, lumos. he stared at the light coming from it for a few precious minutes before sighing and coughing at the same time and off it went. and he remembered her laughter, the smiles and her hair as she brushed it back. she spoke of make believe things like nargles, and didn't know much of love, and told him she probably didn't feel that way for him when he told her he loved her. we're too young for love, luna had added.
with all the proudness in his heart that he had saved the wizarding and muggle world from voldemort's wrath, he still felt empty. ginny worried for him and patted him and told him she loved him and he told her he loved her too. but luna's eyes are so different and it caught him by surprise. they had a warmth ginny's couldn't catch, and a half insane way of intelligence in them. we're too young for love, he realizes when he's kissing ginny when they're alone.
it's like she has some radar that tells her when he's upset. harry broke off his relationship with ginny, the sick clarity of the fact that he was using her because he didn't have luna settling in. and even though she was second best, ginny was nothing like luna. two days after he did, luna came by to talk to him. are you alright? she asks and doesn't ask. she says, i brought chocolate frogs with me. want to have some? but he knows what she means because he knows her but at the same time he doesn't. sure, he says, or it's more of an accepting grunt and she enteres his place and smiles. it looks nice.
as it turns out, she doesn't know much of love but has had her fair share of admirers, especially since more or less graduating from hogwarts. this boy, dan, says he wants to take me out on a date, she confides.
what did you say, he didn't care. obviously.
i'd think about it. luna replies carefully.
he doesn't capture her mouth in his and she doesn't kiss him back.
she tells him, i'll think about it. when he asks her to date him.
