author: kirstie (lullabylucky)

rating: r

disclaimer: not mine.

characters/pairings: susan. peter. robbie. (narnia/atonement).

notes: crossover between narnia and atonement. uh, let's pretend robbie didn't die, kay? and slightly in the future. also susan/peter is my otp and i don't care to hear your opinion if you think this is wrong - so don't bother continuing.

other: not beta-ed. sorry. title lyric from kate nash.

he is in mourning. always in mourning. lost (true) loves and days that get lonelier.

love stories turned war stories. it all ends the same.

-----

robbie knows about lies too, so when she says "phyllis" - he sees right through her.

"your real name."

"susan."

"and how old are you susan?"

"twenty-one."

all it takes is a pointed look this time before she backtracks, "nineteen."

"and what are you doing at a pub in downtown at two in the morning?"

"hiding."

"who isn't, love?"

-----

he shares war stories and she feels them go through her.

she's had her fair share of wars too.

-----

day after day - she is in the same barstool and robbie often wonders why he comes back. she's just a girl he can never have that has the attitude of another.

-----

a tall, blonde boy comes in one (night) morning. he's all swagger and he pulls susan off the stool. his eyes hold anger but there is no doubt of the distress and betrayal there too.

"you found me," susan giggles, more than enough drinks in her system.

he sighs, "why is this a game to you, susan?"

she puts her finger over his lips with a smile, "it's phyllis."

he gives her a look of disgust and lets go of her arm - walking to the door ahead.

susan turns back, "bye robbie." her fingers bend delicately in a wave.

"susan-" peter's impatient.

"coming, brother." she sings as she moves to the door.

robbie would have sworn they were lovers.

-----

robbie foolishly comes back the next day to find her barstool empty. he keeps coming back until she does. it takes three days.

but she's different now. tear tracks are clearly seen through blush and her lipstick is smudged. she is usually so refined.

she walks in, heels clicking, and makes her way directly towards him.

and before he knows it, her full lips are on his: taking control and making the kiss hers. fingers through his hair: tugging, pulling, searching. his hands travel to her hips, pulling her between his legs.

it's all a game but robbie is good at playing.

------

they end up in a bathroom stall: panting, moaning, itching for more.

the way she arches her back and he catches the movement with one of his own.

eyes closed, pretending.

they each moan a different name.

-----

out of the bathroom and peter is waiting at the counter.

she approached slowly, with a broken "sorry."

his eyes soften and he takes her hand, "come home, su."

"yes."
